The Tanzania Primates Meeting is rapidly approaching. The dates are Feb 12-19. Read on to learn how you can get involved in praying for the Primates!
As we did in 2005 before the Dromantine Primates meeting, Lent & Beyond is seeking to post materials here that will help serve as a resource in facilitating prayer for the Primates and this very crucial meeting.
1) We would like to ensure prayer cover for every primate and province. You can find a post with the names and short bios from the official Anglican Communion website here. Please review the list and then leave a comment below as to whom you will commit to praying for. (You don’t need to leave your real name. We would love it however if each commenter would give a general idea of your diocese or location.) We hope many will commit to daily prayer for a given Primate and Province! After a few days we will be posting an update of which Primates are still needing prayer commitments.
2) We will be posting a daily prayer entry here on Lent & Beyond for the Primates meeting and for a particular Primate. Bookmark the Primates Prayer category link to easily find all the posts for this special prayer campaign.
3) We would like to encourage our readers to mobilize prayer in their churches, Bible study groups, prayer groups. We have produced a brochure about the primates meeting, listing a few prayers, and the names of all the primates which IS NOW available for downloading and printing. If whole congregations would make a commitment to cover a particular Primate in prayer, that would be awesome.
This post will serve as an overview or short index of key materials and resources available for the Primates Prayer Campaign. So please bookmark it and check back often this week as we will be updating it and adding new material daily.
One final note: Our goal is to use this blog as a resource for any and all who would like to commit to praying for the Primates and the upcoming meeting. We welcome feedback and suggestions as to other prayer resources, and would welcome contributions as well of prayers to use in the daily prayer posts for the Primates (each post will be linked to the daily lectionary). You can leave a comment or contact us by e-mail at AnglicanPrayer(at)gmail.com [This is a new email address set up for this Primates Prayer Campaign].
