Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! (Joel 2:1a)
LORD, you are full of compassion and mercy. (From Psalm 103:8a)
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the LORD is coming, for it is at hand: (Joel 2:1b)
You are slow to anger and of great kindness, have mercy on us. (From Psalm 103:8b)
A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. (Joel 2:2a)
LORD, the times are evil, but you will not always accuse us, nor will you keep your anger for ever. (From Psalm 103:9)
A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for many successive generations. (Joel 2:2b)
Jesus, though those who oppose your faithful people are powerful, but you will not deal with us according to our sins, nor reward us according to our wickedness. (From Psalm 103:10)
“Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” (Joel 2:12)
Father, as the heavens are high above the earth, so is your mercy great upon those who fear you. (From Psalm 103:11)
So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and he relents from doing harm. (Joel 2:13)
Father, as far as the east is from the west, so far remove our sins from us. (From Psalm 103:12)
Who knows if he will turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him–a grain offering and a drink offering for the LORD your God? (Joel 2:14)
As a father cares for his children, so you care for those who fear you. (From Psalm 103:13)
Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes; let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, and the bride from her dressing room. Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, “Spare your people, O LORD, and do not give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” (Joel 2:15-17)
LORD, you yourself know whereof we are made; you remember that we are but dust, have mercy on us. (From Psalm 103:14)
