1 Corinthians 13:1-3

March 7, 2008

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. (1 Corinthians 13:1)
Jesus, we have lots of sounding brass and clanging cymbals in the Episcopal Church, but little love; have mercy on us.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2)
Holy Spirit, we have much knowledge in the Episcopal Church and many use your good gifts, but there is little love for one another; have mercy on us.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:3)
Father, we have many ministries to feed and care for the poor, but little love for one another; have mercy on us.

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
Thank you, LORD, that the victory is yours, not ours.

A word received: Come to me all that labor and are heavily laden. Invite my people to come to me. Invite them at the prayer table. Invite my people wherever you find them to come to me for refreshment.
