Spiritual blindness

There are many causes of visual defects:

Glaucoma is the result of too much pressure inside the eyeball.

Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?  Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. (Ps 43:2b-3)

Son of David, deliver Your church from Satan’s oppression and bless her with an understanding of Your truth.

The lens covering the pupil can become opacified, producing a cataract.

Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. (Mk 10:50)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Heb 12:1)

Son of David, bless Your church with a spirit of repentance.

When the retina detaches from the back of the eyeball, darkness ensues.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt—darkness that can be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. (Ex 10:21-22)
They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie. (2 Ths 2:10b-11)

Son of David, bless Your church with a love of Your truth.

Double vision results when the extra-ocular muscles do not work together as one (cross-eyed).

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Cor 4:18)
Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mk 10:48)

Son of David, fix the eyes of Your church on You alone.

The blood vessels supplying nutrients to the eyes can become occluded by scarring, as in diabetic retinopathy.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng. Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him. (Ps 42:1, 4, 5a)

Son of David, bless Your church with a spirit of worship, joy, thanksgiving, and praise.
