Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. (Matthew 28:16)
Holy Spirit, please help us make those meeting times and places that Jesus has appointed for us; don’t let us get distracted along the way to them.
When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. (Matthew 28:17)
Jesus, please all of us in this diocese worship you — even those with doubts.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18)
Lord Jesus, it is your authority, not ours; please help the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church to claim only that authority you have given them. Restore a right order to our common life in the Episcopal Church.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28:19)
LORD, help many in this diocese to go forth to make disciples and baptize them in your name. LORD, this nation and the Episcopal Church have become prime mission territory — help many go forth to bring them to conversion and discipleship.
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:20)
Jesus, thank you for sending us your Holy Spirit so that you can take up residence in our hearts and be with us daily. Help us daily be obedient to all that you have commanded us to do. Thank you.
