John 14:1-7, Exodus 14:13-14, and Isaiah 59:16

March 30, 2008

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)
Jesus, I offer you the burdens of my heart.

In my father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)
Jesus, I make the choice to trust you for your provision.

A word received: Don’t be afraid — look to me for sustenance and rest.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:3)
Come soon, Lord Jesus; I long to be received into your arms.

And where I go you know, and the way you know.” (John 14:4)
Holy Spirit, I trust you will show me the way to Jesus day by day.

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?” (John 14:5)
Father, thank you for Pentecost and for pouring out your Holy Spirit so that we can know the way to Jesus.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Jesus, please write this verse on the hearts and minds of the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church.

“If you had known me, you would have known my father also; and from now on you know him and have seen him.” (John 14:7)
Holy Spirit, help the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church know Jesus as he is so that they can know the Father as well. Help them set aside their ideology and political correctness so that they can know Jesus.

And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:13-14)
Thank you, LORD, for winning the victory for us.

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; (Isaiah 59:16)
Holy Spirit, please raise up more intercessors for this diocese and for the Episcopal Church.
