So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. (Acts 4:18 )
Holy Spirit, give all your faithful servants courage to speak and teach in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved.
But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:19-20)
Holy Spirit, give Bishop Bill and Bishop Dave this same apostolic boldness to proclaim Jesus in all circumstances and in the face of all threats.
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. (Acts 4:21)
Jesus, help us give you glory for all that you do and have done.
For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed. (Acts 4:22)
Father, we long to see miracles of healing take place at the Diocesan Convention and in our parishes.
And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. (Acts 4:23)
Jesus, even now the leaders of the Episcopal Church are threatening your faithful witnesses.
So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, you are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things? The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD and against his Christ.’ “For truly against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever your hand and your purpose determined before to be done. Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word, by stretching out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:24-30)
Now, Father, look on the threats of the leaders of the Episcopal Church and grant to your servants that will all boldness they may speak your word. Stretch out your hand to heal and do signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31)
LORD, renew in our day the wonders of your Pentecost!
A word received: Pray for my people: fill up the incense bowls with prayer. Let your prayers come to me day and night. I AM holy and I want my people to be holy. My people are wandering over every hill side. Pray for shepherds to bring them back.

PRAYER TABLE– May 10, 2008
(In front of Christ Church, 9:25 a.m.-10:30 a.m.; Andrew Carlson and Deacon Alan Hart) a-indicates anointed with Holy Oil, t-indicates received one of Torre’s crosses
t … Cheryl– Wanted prayer simply “to have a good Mother’s Day.” We prayed for her to hear from her two grown children, who both live out of the area, and that Cheryl would have the memorable, happy Mother’s Day she wants.
a, t …. Marlene — She wanted prayers that she would “get a job.” I held her arm and Andrew held her hand and we prayed that she would find suitable employment; we prayed for protection and provision for Marlene.
Jefferson, Marty — Perhaps the visitors to today’s Table who stood out the most. We asked as they were passing by the Table if they would like prayer for anything and they kind of snickered and walked past. But one of them dropped a Rite-Aid bag containing (prescription) drugs and I hailed them down and carried the bag to them. When I got to them, Jefferson thanked me and said, “You know … I changed my mind. I DO want prayers. Could you ask God to protect me from all the stuff going on around here?” I told him I certainly could and would, and Marty asked for the same prayers. I prayed with a hand on one of each of their shoulders and they stood there on State Street with their heads bowed in sincere prayer. Andrew prayed with his hand in the air back at the Table. He couldn’t hear, but he knew what was going on and joined in. It was an amazing moment!
a, t, t — Pat (Frank Upshur’s daughter) — Pat is a “regular” at our Table and she told me today she looks forward to coming to it every week. She asked for prayers for herself for travel mercies to Atlantic City on the 20th of this month. She is going there to see her grand-daughter Keisha, who is expecting. We prayed for the safe delivery of the baby and for the health of the soon-to-be newborn, which Pat says the mother knows already will be a girl. We also prayed for her family members: Keith (PTL that he recently got a job!), Nick (out of the hospital and feeling better), Frank her dad (is very grateful for our prayers and wears his wooden cross around the clock every day.) I anointed her for protection and safety on her trip and Andrew held her hand while we prayed for all these things. She took two crosses for relatives.
Steve — A returnee to the Prayer Table. He did not stop for prayers this time because he was getting on a bus but showed us his cross he received at an earlier visit. He said he wears it constantly.
t … Richard — Asked for prayers to help him combat his alcoholism and diseases associated with it. He also asked prayers for his brother James, who is in an asylum. Andrew and I both laid hands on him and prayed for him and his brother for these things and that God would watch over him and set him free. An interesting and touching twist to this is that a few minutes later, Richard came back to our Table after going to Dollar General which was not operating because of the power outtage we had on the street that day. When we told him our church was also without power, Richard prayed for US! He prayed aloud that God would restore power to our church.
a, t, t … Anthony — Waiting for a bus to Albany, he came over for prayer for himself and for his mother Maria, who is very sick. Maria was in the hospital recently for a pulmonary illness, was released but has gone back in with further complications. I anointed Anthony while Andrew prayed aloud for the both of them for protection, health and provision. Anthony took a cross for himself and for his mom.
Richard (not the same one as earlier) — As we were taking the Table down for the day, a visitor from a few weeks ago walked by with his dog and we prayed for him. If you remember, Richard was getting kicked out of his apartment for a heinous crime that his son had committed (which Richard had nothing to do with!) and he was also going to lose ownership of his dog because he had nowhere to live at the time. But Richard was able to find a place to live and keep his dog. We prayed for continued protection and provision for him and gave thanks that he was able to keep his dog.
Note: We have not seen the Bus Driver the past two weeks. It probably means he is on vacation or days off or something, but keep praying for him. (Deacon Alan)
