Matthew 9:35-38

May 13, 2008

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. (Matthew 9:35)
Jesus, please go through all the cities and villages of this diocese. Cause the gospel of the kingdom to be preached in every parish along with healing of our every sickness and disease. Give us hearts that are eager for your kingdom ministry.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. (Matthew 9:36)
Holy Spirit, move our hearts with Jesus’ compassion for the lost and the least, for all your scattered flock.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38 )
Father, please send forth more laborers out into the harvest fields in this diocese. Give us eyes to see and hearts to respond to the harvest that is right in front of us. Move our hearts with Jesus’ compassion for those who have gone astray in the Episcopal Church. Thank you.

A word received: Pray for my people to heed the warnings I give them in Scripture.
