The Lord’s Resistance Army

The LRA is on a rampage, killing over 400 people. This is their response to a military offensive against them for failing to sign a peace accord. Yesterday, Torre received a e-mail request for prayers of protection from the LRA. The request came from Bishop Justin of Sudan.
I responded by posting a prayer for the defeat of the LRA. I was indignant that they would use the Lord’s name to identify themselves, and focussed on God’s holy name in the prayer. Later I remembered that in the liturgical calendar, January 1 is the day of the Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I think it no coincidence that of all the days for Torre to receive an urgent request to pray regarding the LRA, it would be the Day of the Holy Name. The LRA’s very existence profanes God’s holy name, and we speak God’s holy name against them on the day of the church calendar when God’s holy name is being magnified around the world.
My sense is that this a critical moment in time, and I ask you intercessors to be diligent in praying for the defeat of the LRA.
