Intercessors for the primates meeting

January 25, 2009

How lovely is Your presence, O Lord of hosts! Our souls long for You. Our hearts and our flesh sing for joy to the living God.
We pray that the intercessors for the primates meeting will dwell in Your presence. We need Your presence every passing hour! May the intercessors be like the swallow who makes her nest and lays her young at Your altar, trusting in Your protection. We are helpless against the spiritual predators of this dark age. We run to You, remain with You, and rest in Your love. Amen.
Psalm 84:1-3

Primates meeting organizers

January 25, 2009

The primates meeting will be held Feb 1-5 at the Helnan Palestine Hotel in Alexandria, Egypt.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams for calling and chairing this meeting; for Bp. Mouneer Anis and the staff members of the diocese of Egypt that extended a gift of hospitality to the primates of the Anglican Communion; for Rev. Canon Kenneth Kearon and his staff for organizing details of the proceedings, and for the staff of the Helnan Palestine Hotel for serving the primates. Bless them. Strengthen and sustain them by Your grace. May they keep their eyes on You in the preparations and through the meeting, trusting in Your presence and in Your provision of all that is needful. Amen.

Primates

January 25, 2009

An intercessor suggested this Bible verse for the primate prayer campaign.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. John 14:26

O Father,
We humbly beseech You to send Your Holy Spirit to each of the Anglican primates in these days leading up to the meeting in Alexandria. Prepare their hearts for Your good work. Teach them. If their hearts are not teachable, lead them to repentance.
We pray that they will devote themselves to Bible study and prayer. May songs of praise stay on their lips. Be fully present in their schedules. Speak to them through chance encounters and unexpected sources. Bring to their remembrance all things that Jesus said to His disciples. Amen.

Psalm 98

January 25, 2009

Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have gained him the victory. (Psalm 98:1)
Jesus, win the victory in our hearts!

The LORD has made known his salvation; his righteousness he has revealed in the sight of the nations. (Psalm 98:2)
Father, reveal your righteousness to the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church and make your salvation known to them.

He has remembered his mercy and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. (Psalm 98:3)
Holy Spirit, help us in this diocese remember Jesus’ faithfulness and his mercy, and plant in all our hearts the hope of salvation.

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. (Psalm 98:4)
Jesus, please help us come into your sanctuary with joyful shouts and songs of praise.

Sing to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of a psalm, (Psalm 98:5)
Father, please help us sing with joy all that you have done for us.

With trumpets and the sound of a horn; shout joyfully before the LORD, the King. (Psalm 98:6)
Holy Spirit, fill the sanctuary with songs of praise and joy because of what you are doing in our lives.

Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell in it; (Psalm 98:7)
LORD, your whole creation sings your praise.

Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills be joyful together before the LORD, (Psalm 98:8 )
Father, restore your creation that it may joy in you.

For he is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness he shall judge the world, and the peoples with equity. (Psalm 98:9)
Come soon, Lord Jesus; come soon!
