“Sing, O barren, you who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:1)
LORD, turn all of the barren and desolate places in our lives into gardens of your Spirit.
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.” (Isaiah 54:2)
Holy Spirit, in these times of fear and uncertainty, help us reach out to others with the gospel and bring them to Jesus.

“Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.” (Isaiah 54:4)
Father, give us hearts that are fixed on where true joys are to be found: in your son Jesus.
“For your maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; he is called the God of the whole earth.” (Isaiah 54:5)

“For the LORD has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a youthful wife when you were refused, says your God.” (Isaiah 54:6)
Holy Spirit, help us answer Jesus’ call.

Jesus, hold us up by your mercy.

Father, we have deserved your wrath but in your mercy you sent us Jesus; thank you!
“For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.” (Isaiah 54:9)
Jesus, your grace and mercy have kept us going. Please continue to sustain us with your peace and your provision in this time when others are afraid.
“For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has mercy on you. (Isaiah 54:10)
LORD, thank you for having mercy on us.
“O you afflicted one, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, and lay your foundations with sapphires.” (Isaiah 54:11)
Jesus, we cry out to you for your afflicted ones in the dioceses of Maridi and Jos — have mercy on them.

Thank you.

Father, help us to be instruments of your work.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from me,” says the LORD. (Isaiah 54:17)
Father, help us enter into your heritage and protection and righteousness day by day. Thank you.

Words Received for a Sunday School lesson in February:
“So the eunuch answered Philip and said, ‘I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?’” (Acts 8:34) A word received: I want you to be prepared to answer such a question.
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.” (Acts 8:35) A word received: Philip is prepared to answer — he is filled with my Spirit and he knows the Scriptures. I want you to be filled with my Spirit and to know my word.
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.” (Acts 8:35) A word received: That’s what I want — that you will “preach Jesus” — that you will speak of my son to others.
“Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, ‘See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?’” (Acts 8:36) A word received: I gave him eyes to see the opportunity — he had a heart to seize the opportunity. I want you to have such a heart as well.
“So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” (Acts 8:38 ) A word received: Have the children and the adults talk about seeing others baptized. I want them to know that this is for now.
“Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.” (Acts 8:39) A word received: Listen to the joy of the Ethiopian. Picture his joy. I want you to know this same joy of being washed clean of sin and filled with my Spirit.
