To be sin for us

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  2 Corinthians 5:21

O Dear Jesus,

What happens when I rationalize my sin?  You became my sin.  I may try to diminish my sin, but You cannot be diminished.

Do I diminish my access to You?  When no confession crosses my lips, do I diminish my own rightousness in Your sight, my unconfessed sins like a pall over Your light within my spirit?

I am like a virgin awakening from a sleep, with no oil for her lamp.

Oh, fie on my false righteousness!  I curse myself with the slightest self-vindication.  Take pity, Lord.  I am but dust.  Take pity, I pray.  Amen.
