So His Honor May be Seen

June 25, 2009

In Memorium. I praise God for a friend who was faithful in living and dying to honor Christ.

So His Honor
(James Ward, from his out of print 1979 album Mourning to Dancing)

Phil 1:20-21
… it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

He Hideth My Soul in the Cleft of the Rock

June 25, 2009

A personal testimony and a thanksgiving:

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

Psalm 105:1-6

June 25, 2009

Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! (Psalm 105:1)
      Jesus, thank you for all that you have done for us. We call upon your name to make your deeds known among the peoples. Thank you for making your father’s love known to us. Thank you for baptizing us with your Holy Spirit.

Sing to him, sing psalms to him; talk of all his wondrous works! (Psalm 105:2)
      Holy Spirit, please help us sing to Jesus and talk of all that he has done.

Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! (Psalm 105:3)
      Father, set our hearts on the pilgrim’s path. You are who you are and we rejoice in you.

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face evermore! (Psalm 105:4)
      Jesus, please fill us anew with the strength of your Holy Spirit. Help us bear your true image on our hearts — help us be living gospels!

Remember his marvelous works which he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth, (Psalm 105:5)
      Holy Spirit, please help us to be a people who remember all that God has said and done, and help us do his commandments.

O seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones! (Psalm 105:6)
      Father, you have made us heirs by faith to your promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Thank you for all that you have done for us.

       A word received: Pray for my people. Pray for the shepherds of my people. Pray without ceasing. Come to me, look to me, cry out to me. I will hear you.
