Almighty God,
You are the great Lord of the harvest, and you faithfully call and equip your people for the ministry of your Gospel. We thank you for raising up Trinity, its faculty, staff, students, trustees, and supporters, and for enabling us to equip men and women for ordained and lay ministry in the Church. We ask you to sustain and expand this good work. Establish us in the grace of your Holy Spirit. Help us, both by our lives and our witness, to be faithful witnesses to your Gospel. Use us to strengthen and enlarge the number of people you send out on your mission to the world. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

November 4, 2009Nigel’s intercessors
November 4, 2009Today’s lectionary reading, Nehemiah 13:4-22, deals with the issue of profaning that which is holy and set aside for the Lord. Are there places in our hearts which are profane in the eyes of God?
Dear Lord,
Reveal to each of Nigel’s intercessors the lies about You that we mistakenly believe. Amen.
Fr. Nigel Update 7:37 AM
November 4, 2009Fr. Nigel Update 7:37 AM
Wednesday 11/4/09
Fr. Nigel Mumford continues in critical condition but he is stable. He continues to tolerate more changes to his oxygen levels, which is a positive sign. He had a good night last night with all of his vital signs remaining constant. Alleluia – your prayers are working! Please keep praying Fr. Nigel up!
Please continue to pray for his lungs that they may be healed so that he may be weaned from the ventilator.
Please continue to pray for all of his organs that they may be protected from any damage, especially his kidneys.
Please continue to pray for his fever, that it may be eliminated and that whatever is causing it may be healed.
Please pray for protection from blood clots since he has been immobile for so long.
Lynn wants you to know that your prayers are having an effect on his condition. She recalled that Fr. Nigel has said “If you’re too sick to pray, you have healing ministers (prayer warriors) to take on your healing.” Thank you for taking on Fr. Nigel’s healing.
Please continue to pray for Lynn’s strength and calm in this storm, and for all of the Mumford family. It is particularly hard for Fr. Nigel’s family in England at this critical time, so extra prayers for them today. And please pray for the doctors and nurses as they care for Fr. Nigel.

Church of England
November 4, 2009A brief sketch of the current issues within the Church of England, provided by our esteemed British blog commenter Pageantmaster, can be found here.
Luke 1:30
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.
Luke 2:34-35
Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
O Lord,
You are holy God, and You cannot share Your glory with lies. We pray that the leaders of the Church of England will seek Your favor and humbly submit themselves to Your Holy Word. Amen.
Revelation 12:7-12
November 4, 2009And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. (Revelation 12:7-8 )
Lord Jesus, please send Michael and his angels to do battle for us, for we are sore pressed. Defend your servants Nigel and Lynn from every attack of the evil one.
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:9)
Holy Spirit, please help us see through all the deceptions of the evil one and choose what is right.
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” (Revelation 12:10)
Father, help us rely on your salvation and strength, and cease listening to the accuser.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Revelation 12:11)
Jesus, please help us win the victory over sin and death by your blood and by our faithful testimony.
“Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” (Revelation 12:12)
”We give you thanks, O Lord God “Almighty, the one who is and who was and who is to come, because you have taken your great power and reigned.” (Revelation 11:17)
A word received: Don’t be afraid. I AM working my purposes out.

November 4, 2009In the aftermath of GC09, the clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi will meet on Friday.
Jehovah-Elyon, O Lord Most High,
Guide Your servants to Your throne of praise. Release springs of living water within their spirits. As these springs flow from their mouths, expel bitterness, pain, and sorrow. Amen.
