Prayer Table Report

Christ Church Schenectady Prayer Table Report November 7, 9:25-10:30 AM Torre Bissell and Don Foust
+–indicates received wooden cross made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina.

This first Saturday in November was sunny, but breezy and cold. We are constantly amazed that in the midst of the terrible human suffering in Hamilton Hill, there are stories of hope and faithfulness. Those coming to the Prayer Table today brought both great suffering and great thankfulness. The Prayer Table has become a regular stop for a number of folks in the Neighborhood, and we have added their names to the bottom of the Prayer Table Report.

Larry–We prayed for his son Gabriel. Gabriel is 6 years old and has spent his entire life in hospitals because a neural muscular disorder. Pray for strength for Larry and healing for Gabriel.

+Richard–Richard has just entered a Half Way House for substance abusers. We prayed for him to “make it through the program” and for freedom from addiction.

Bill–(regular)–Bill was very tired today. We prayed for an end to Bill’s seizures and for a companion for Bill.

++Ron–We prayed for Ron’s son Matt. Matt has just entered a chemical substance abuse program. Please pray for strength for Ron and for a “heart to change” for Matt.

+Denise–This young mother brought her 2 young sons (+Lewis and +Kammel) across the street to pray as a family. We prayed for protection for this young family. After all 5 of us held hands and prayed, this family crossed back over the street and continued on their way.

+Windell–older man. We prayed for inner peace in Windell’s life.

+Carl–When asked if he would like prayer, Carl responded, “You can’t have too much prayer“. We prayed for Carl’s finances.

+Phil–middle-aged man from Manchester, England who walked with a limp–We prayed for healing in Phil’s foot. Phil attended the Church of England in Manchester.

Jim– (regular)–Jim continued his new practice of thanking God, this time for a positive series of medical tests he had this week. We prayed for a continuation of the healing of Jim’s memories. We thank God for Jim’s faithfulness,

Kayla– (regular)–Today is Kayla’s birthday. She turned 20, but was not happy. She recently got a job, but her cousin stole her savings–money she was going to use to celebrate her birthday. We prayed for provision. Please pray for Kayla; as a single mother of 20 in the past year she has been robbed and raped.

+Christian– We prayed for his 3 children that would grow up to know the Lord.

John–has stopped by the Prayer Table twice before–We prayed for his deceased mother Bessie Mae.

Man walking by who did not stop– When we asked if he wanted prayer, he answered with a glazed-over look on his face, “No, I’m fine”. He was obviously not fine, and we prayed for his protection.

Man in a van with his son– This man had a “life-changing experience” at Christ Church. Several times a year he drives up the Prayer Table with a large donation for the Church (even though he does not attend Christ Church). Today was no exception. One of Dennis Adams’ wooden crosses hung from the mirror in his van. We thank God for the change in this man’s life and his continuing support of Christ Church.

+Matt–This young man looked haggard. We prayed for continuing work so that he can support his family.

+Paul–We prayed for an end to the struggles in his home. May the hard times of this family turn into fruitful times.

+Jasmine–As Deacon Alan Hart would say, “there is always one person who really gets to you“. Today that person was Jasmine. She immediately came across State Street when we called to her. She was dressed in a fur-trimmed coat and heels so high that she could hardly walk. When we asked how she was doing, Jasmine responded, “Not well–I have started cutting myself again“. She raised the sleeves of her coat, revealing multiple bloody scars running the length of both arms. We prayed for the interdiction by the Holy Spirit in this young woman’s life. We also suggested that she attend services at Christ Church we she could be surrounded by caring people and receive further prayers of healing. She gave both of us a hug, and left weeping. The Prayer Table suddenly became very cold as the sun went behind the Church. Please pray for Jasmine. This woman is in great need of God’s help in her life.

+Victor– This Hispanic man could not speak English. We gave him a Spanish Bible and prayed for blessings in his life.
