And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” (Matthew 17:14-16)
Lord Jesus, you know the weakness of our ministry. Move in our hearts so that we can minister the healing you desire for your people.
Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me.” (Matthew 17:17)
Jesus, we ask you to stick with us as long as it takes for us to get it right. Continue to teach and guide us by your Holy Spirit.
And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. (Matthew 17:18 )
Jesus, in your name and in the power of your name we rebuke whatever is attacking Fr. Nigel and we command that it leave him. Heal him and restore him to full health.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” (Matthew 17:19)
Holy Spirit, please help all of us who minister in this diocese come to you for your guidance in how to minister.
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Father, please bring us all to this level of faith and belief.
“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)
Father, bring us all to an active life of prayer and fasting.
