Righteousness

Romans 8:19 (New International Version)
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
O Lord, may our righteousness exceed the environment ruling around us in America.

Deuteronomy 28:13 (Amplified Bible)
And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.
O Lord, may our righteousness exceed the environment ruling around us in America.

Romans 14:17 (New International Version)
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
O Lord, may our righteousness exceed the environment ruling around us in America.

Praise

I love the use of hands in this psalm. God raises high His right hand, and we process to the altar with boughs in hand.

Excerpts from Psalm 118
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes. . .
The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
Shouts of joy and victory
resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!
The LORD’s right hand is lifted high;
the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!”
I will not die but live,
and will proclaim what the LORD has done. . .
The LORD is God,
and he has made his light shine upon us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

2 Peter 1:1-11

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: (2 Peter 1:1)
      Jesus, thank you for the witness of your apostles which still speaks to us today and builds up our faith.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, (2 Peter 1:2)
      Father, we ask for your grace and peace to be multiplied among us.

as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue, (2 Peter 1:3)
      Jesus, please help us daily answer your call and grow in our knowledge of you.

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4)
      Jesus, thank you for the promise and hope you have given us; set us free from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, (2 Peter 1:5)
      Holy Spirit, please help us have that diligence which will add virtue to our faith.

to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, (2 Peter 1:6)
      Father, please help us daily grown in self-control, perseverance and godliness.

to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. (2 Peter 1:7)
      Holy Spirit, move us to brotherly kindness and love toward one another.

For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:8 )
      Jesus, please help us bear fruit for your kingdom.

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. (2 Peter 1:9)
      Father, restore true sight to those who are short-sighted and help them remember being cleansed from sin.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:10-11)
      Jesus, please help us to be diligent and not stumble so that we enter into your everlasting kingdom. Thank you.
