John 16:33 and 1 Peter 4:7-11


“These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
      Jesus, please overcome what is worldly in me. Win the victory in me and bring me to good cheer.

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7)
      Holy Spirit, come and move in my heart as I pray.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8 )
      Thank you, Lord, that your love and your blood have covered my sins.

Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. (1 Peter 4:9)
      Holy Trinity, one God, you have brought us into your fellowship with one another. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as you have done that for us, help us do that for others. Thank you.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)
      Father, please help us daily give and receive ministry to and from others in the body of your son Jesus.

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. (1 Peter 4:11a)
      Holy Spirit, help me speak at your bidding.

If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 4:11b)
      Father, please help me daily use the gifts and talents you have given me for the building up of your kingdom.

to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:11c)
      Jesus, please help us daily bring you glory. Have your way with us so that your dominion will be evident in our lives. Thank you.

      A word received: Wait on me. Turn your attention to me. Keep me in focus. Don’t be dismayed or distracted by the folly of the world and flesh.

***** Please pray for the Clergy wives’ retreat which is next Fri-Sun, April 23-25th and the Priest’s retreat which is Tues April 27th – 28th. Please pray that all of the clergy and their wives will be able to go to these events and will do so.
