Church of England Synod

Legislation for women bishops is being debated today.

Psalm 50:23 (New International Version)
He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.

O Lord, we cry out for our brothers and sisters at the Synod. Stir in Your chosen leaders a spirit of thanksgiving and praise and show them the way forward. Amen.

Excerpts from Isaiah 50:4-10 (New International Version)
The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.
We thank You for the godly priests and prophets at the Synod today.
The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.
We thank You that they discern Your voice and are obedient.
Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced.
You are their helper and encourager.
He who vindicates me is near. It is the Sovereign LORD who helps me.
We thank You for being near to them.
Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

Amen.

Excerpts from Psalm 32:6-11 (New International Version)
Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
Lord, we humbly ask You to commission Your holy angels to the Church of England Synod in York. Surround the Synod with songs of deliverance.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
Thank You for instructing Your children, Lord.
The LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.
May they lean on You and not their own understanding.
Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
You inhabit the praises of Your people. Pour out upon this Synod and its intercessors a spirit of praise. Amen.
