How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14)
Lord Jesus, please send forth preachers throughout this diocese. Let their preaching be infused with the gospel.
And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15)
Holy Spirit, please bring that beauty to every pulpit and preacher in this diocese.
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” (Romans 10:16)
Father, help all your people believe and act upon the witness of your prophets. All day long you stretch out your hand to a disobedient and contrary people. Have mercy on us and shepherd us each day.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)
LORD, please give us ears to hear and hearts to respond to you in faith.
