2 Corinthians 4:7-9, 17-18 (New International Version)
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Father,
We thank You for the promises of Holy Scripture that unlock the door of hope, for the balm of Your perfect strength upon our weakness, and for the peace that passeth understanding. We thank You for the invitation to come to Jesus and find rest unto our souls. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Jill, I add my Amen. This fits in so well with what the Lord is speaking to my heart about resting in Him
Thank you!!

God’s rest has been on my mind as well…especially these verses, Hebrews 4:9-11 the Sabbath that remains for the people of God is ceasing to do our own works…that is, the works of the natural mind, the fallen flesh, behaviors and attitudes of the world and the influences of the devil. Our rest is walking in conformity to the Word by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a place of peace and rest, even in the storms and pain of persecution, danger, illness, loss, etc.
Another kind of rest is worship and communion with God…where God restores us and also re-stores us…downloading His unending supply of grace and blessings into us. When we worship, we enter heavenly Jerusalem…(Hebrews 12:22-24)
Another way to rest is to ‘be still and know that I AM GOD.’ (Psalm 46:11 …the Hebrew word for ‘be still’means to cease, rest, let go).
I’m sure I have only begun to comprehend the ‘rest’ of God.
