My fellow intercessor Torre is the epitome of continuity. His prayers are based on the lectionary readings, and there is continuity one day to another.
On the other hand, I write in spurts. I frequently write several prayers in one sitting, then post them over several days on a time stamp. My prayer interests are varied, and though I like doing series on particular subjects, the series may be peppered with prayers on an unrelated subject. If the continuity of the prayers appears haphazard, well, that’s because it is. However, I do strive to make the individual prayers coherent.
I got sidetracked from my neurologic series by a local intercessory effort. Sorry.
The Apostle Paul said, in a discussion of life after death, said, “There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” (1 Cor 15:44) I can’t find it, but there is some verse that says the natural realm reflects the heavenly realm. This led me to muse, If we do organ and tissue transplants in the natural, might this be a reflection of a heavenly reality?
I’ve added two names to our list of neurologic patients–Mark, who suffered brain injury in an accident, and Gaenor, who suffered injury from a brain tumor.
Jehovah-jireh,
You are the God of all provision, Creator of all that is in heaven and in earth. The atmosphere and the ocean are vast and cannot be measured. One tree produces many fruits; one fruit produces many seeds. You flung 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars across the sky. We extol Your holy name.
The intricacies of the human body inspire awe. Your infinity extends to the minute and to the vast.
When Jesus was sacrificed on the cross, You provided a resurrected Jesus to walk on this earth. He had a new earthly body.
Can you transplant tissues? Joseph, Sally, Chris, Lauren, Mark, and Gaenor have all suffered neurologic injury by a variety of mechanisms. If their mitochondria are dysfuntional, give them new mitochondria, Lord. If the lining of their GI tract is allowing the the leakage of morphines into their blood stream, give them a new GI lining. If their neurons have been damaged by toxins, heavy metals, metabolic errors, or trauma, transplant new ones.
By His blood, Jesus has paid the price for this transplant. He has unlocked the door to the heavenly organ bank.
He is praying for these loved ones. We join our prayers to His.
We see through a glass darkly, but You see clearly. Send Your Holy Spirit to infill them. Commission Your holy angels to come to their aid. For these loved ones, transplant new cells, a new tissue, or a new organ, and restore Your good and perfect creation. Amen.
