Psalm 116:1-7

October 16, 2010

I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. (Psalm 116:1)
Thank you, LORD, for listening to me in all times and seasons.

Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call upon him as long as I live. (Psalm 116:2)
Father, thank you for being a “Dad” to me and listening to me.

The pains of death surrounded me, and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. (Psalm 116:3)
Jesus, you are a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; thank you for entering into my sorrows and grief — for hearing me when I cry out to you.

Then I called upon the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I implore you, deliver my soul!” (Psalm 116:4)
Jesus, win the victory in my life.

Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yes, our God is merciful. (Psalm 116:5)
Holy Spirit, thank you for teaching me day by day of our father’s mercy.

The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and he saved me. (Psalm 116:6)
Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.

Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. (Psalm 116:7)
Father, as you led Naomi and Ruth out of bitterness and sorrow into the fullness of your provision; so you are leading us step by step. Thank you for your merciful kindness toward us. Thank you for giving us this day’s bread and word.

The walls of the habitation

October 15, 2010

I think praise helps to teach us humility.–JW

Jehovah God, dwelling in eternity in the high and holy place, heaven above, and inhabiting the praises of Your people, offered in a contrite and humble spirit,
Your name is Holy. You have appointed salvation for the walls and bulwarks of Your habitation. We lift up our praises over patients suffering from neurologic disease, especially Joseph, Sally, Chris, Lauren, Gaenor, Mark, Samuel, and Alan. Enfold them within Your arms of healing, Your walls and bulwarks of salvation. We lift up a shout! Amen.
Psalm 22:3, Isaiah 26:1, 57:15

Luke 9:34-35

October 15, 2010

While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son. Hear Him!” (Luke 9:34-35)
Father, give us ears to hear what Jesus is saying to us right now. Give us ears and hearts to respond to what your Holy Spirit is saying to the churches right now. Father, our hearts have grown cold and we have not turned to you as we should. Come among us with your Holy Spirit and cause us to stop and listen to your beloved Son, Jesus the Christ, our savior. Thank you.

Covenant root

October 14, 2010

As I continue to ponder prayers for the healing of neurologic disease, more names keep coming to me, some e-mail requests, some personal. I’m adding Alan, brain-damaged by a traumatic delivery, now grown, and Samuel, three years since his bike was hit by a car. There is such a need!

Dear Jesus, Son of man and Son of God,
You are the true vine, and Your Father is the vinegrower. Help Lauren, Chris, Joseph, Sally, Gaenor, Mark, Samuel, and Alan to abide in You.
Their covenant root is in You. They are rooted in Christ Jesus the Lord. Help them to face their illness and be not afraid. Build up their faith to walk in Him.
Their anointing is from You. Anoint their heads with oil–a double portion: one portion to break down false attitudes, strongholds built on lies; another portion to let Your glory rest upon their neurons.
Holy Spirit, rain down upon them and yield an increase–in their spirtual fruitfulness and in their physical healing. Rain, Spirit, rain. The work of Jesus on the cross is finished. Cleanse them with the Blood of the Lamb and the washing of the water of Your word for each one.
Jesus is the vine. Lauren, Chris, Joseph, Sally, Gaenor, Mark, Samuel, and Alan are the branches. Amen. Amen. Amen.
John 15, Colossians 2:6-7, Psalm 23:5

Psalm 18:28

October 14, 2010

For you will light my lamp; the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. (Psalm 18:28 )
Jesus, thank you for being the light to bring us through this time of darkness in the church and in the nation. Please help us take each step by your light. Thank you.

Blessing from the Anglican Christian community in Ceylon, Pakistan, and India
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, who is mightier than all the hosts of Satan, and more glorious than all the angels of heaven, abide with you in your going out and your coming in; by day and by night; at morning and at evening; at all times and in all places.
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, protect and deliver you from the wrath of evil persons; from the assaults of evil spirits; from foes invisible; from the snares of the Evil One; and from all low passions that beguile the soul and body.
May the Name of Jesus protect and deliver you.
And the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with you this day and always. Amen.

A New Song

October 13, 2010

Hi, folks. Sorry I’ve been absent a few days. We had two computers to crash and a car transmission to act up, all at the same time. Who would have thought a few healing prayers would draw so much fire? LOL!
On 10/10/10, I awoke at 3:33 am. I arose and looked up Psalm 33:3. (There is no Psalm 3:33.)

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

The preceding verse said:

Make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.

A “new song” is mentioned seven times in the Old Testament. –JW

O three-stringed lyre, sing!
Ten-stringed psaltery, ring!
Bring near the kingdom of God.

Vibrations loosing,
Flags a-flashing,
Timbrels tossing,
Angels dancing,
Hearts a-pulsing,
Love unleashing,
Living Water, Holy Fire.

O three-stringed lyre, sing!
Ten-stringed psaltery, ring!
Bring near the kingdom of God.

Ezekiel 47:1-12, Revelation 2:7, and Revelation 22:1-6

October 13, 2010

Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. (Ezekiel 47:1)
LORD, let your living water flow from your altar into our hearts.

He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side. (Ezekiel 47:2)
Jesus, bring us to the place you want us to be.

And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. (Ezekiel 47:3)
Holy Spirit, help us go deeper, farther.

Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. (Ezekiel 47:4a)
Holy Spirit, help us go deeper, farther.

Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist. (Ezekiel 47:4b)
Holy Spirit, help us go deeper, farther.

Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed. (Ezekiel 47:5)
Father, bid me take my feet off the bottom and flow with you Spirit. Carry me along in the current of your Holy Spirit.

He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. (Ezekiel 47:6)
Father, please help us see what you want us to see.

When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. Then he said to me: “This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed. And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many. But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt. Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.” (Ezekiel 47:7-12)
Jesus, bring us to that fruitful place. Bring us to the place where we will produce the fruit of your Holy Spirit.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”‘ (Revelation 2:7)
Jesus, help us hear what your Spirit is saying to the churches; help us eat of the tree of life; help us savor its fruit.

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. (Revelation 22:1)
Jesus, show us that pure rive of water of life that proceeds from your throne.

In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:2)
Jesus, bring healing to the nations; bring healing to this nation.

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. (Revelation 22:3)
Father, set us free of the curse so that we can fruitfully serve Jesus.

They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. (Revelation 22:4)
Jesus, we long to see you face to face.

There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. (Revelation 22:5)
Jesus, you are our light and our salvation; help us take each step by your light.

Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. (Revelation 22:6)
Jesus, you are faithful and true: help us be like you. Thank you.

A word received: Pray for the refining fire of my Holy Spirit.

Psalm 10:14-18

October 12, 2010

But you have seen, for you observe trouble and grief, to repay it by your hand. The helpless commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless. (Psalm 10:14)
Father, we commit ourselves to your care.

Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; seek out his wickedness until you find none. (Psalm 10:15)
Father, the proud eat up the poor and never think of you; have mercy on us.

The Lord is King forever and ever; the nations have perished out of his land. (Psalm 10:16)
LORD, rule in our hearts; guide the people of this land in the upcoming election.

Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will prepare their heart; you will cause your ear to hear, (Psalm 10:17)
      Holy Spirit, prepare our hearts.

To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may oppress no more. (Psalm 10:18 )
Jesus, we cry out to you for your little ones — have mercy on them and on us.

Luke 17:11-19

October 10, 2010

Now it happened as he went to Jerusalem that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as he entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when he saw them, he said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” (Luke 17:11-18 )
Jesus, thank you for all you have done for us and our family. Thank you for what you have done in our parish and in this diocese. Please continue to move in our hearts and change our lives. Help them reflect your glory and love. Thank you.

And he said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:19)
Jesus, please help us go forward in faith and receive healing as we go. Thank you.

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light.” (Luke 8:16)
Lord Jesus Christ, help every parish in this diocese set forth the light of the gospel where all may see it. We pray that all those who come into our parishes for the first time tomorrow will see by the light of the gospel.

“For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” (Luke 8:17)
Holy Spirit, reveal our hearts to us so that we can bring everything to Jesus.

“Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.” (Luke 8:18 )
Father, please help us hear and think on those things which are noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Help us meditate on those things which are praiseworthy and of virtue. Thank you. (See Philippians 4:8 )

Jesus, put a stop to the poison and lies that are flooding our nation. Bless the President and guide and direct him and this natuion by your Holy Spirit. Thank you.

Luke 8:5-15

October 8, 2010

“A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” When he had said these things he cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Then his disciples asked him, saying, “What does this parable mean?” And he said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.” (Luke 8:5-11)
Jesus, plant your word in our hearts.

“Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.” (Luke 8:12)
Have mercy on us Lord and help us hold steady in you.

“But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.” (Luke 8:13)
Holy Angels, protect us in the hour of temptation.

Father, flood us with living water.

“Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.” (Luke 8:14)
Jesus, help us cast all our cares on you because you care for us.

“But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)
Holy Spirit, help us bear fruit with patience: prepare the soil of our hearts, plant the word in our hearts and minds daily and nourish it with your living water. Thank you.

A word received: I AM faithful.

The Firstborn of the Dead

October 8, 2010

Revelation 1:5-6 (King James Version)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Lord Jesus,
You are the Prince of Peace, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. You are prince of the kings of the earth. You have dominion over Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal “king of nations.” You have dominion over Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, the king of Jericho, the king of Ai, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, the king of Gezer, the king of Debir, the king of Geder, the king of Hormah, the king of Arad, the king of Libnah, the king of Adullam, the king of Makkedah, the king of Bethel, the king of Tappuah, the king of Hepher, the king of Aphek, the king of Lasharon, the king of Madon, the king of Hazor, the king of Shimron-meron, the king of Achshaph, the king of Taanach, the king of Megiddo, the king of Kedesh, the king of Jokneam of Carmel, the king of Dor, the king of the nations of Gilgal, and the king of Tirzah. At Your name, the Amorites, the remnant of the giants, the Geshurites, the Maachathites, the Hittites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites must bow their knee.
God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, delivered these enemies into the hands of Abram, Joshua, and the children of Israel. Blessed be El Elyon, God Most High.
If any of the spirits represented by these kings hold sway over the patients suffering from neurologic disease, especially Joseph, Sally, Chris, Lauren, Mark, and Gaenor, we claim the supremacy of Christ Jesus over them. You have washed these loved ones in Your own blood. You reign over every biochemical pathway, every subcellular organelle, and every tissue in their bodies. You are the Firstborn of the Dead. You can replace diseased cells with healthy cells and dead cells with new cells. Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! To You be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Genesis 45:5-8, Joshua 12, Philippians 2

Georgia’s prayers for healing

October 8, 2010

Georgia is a gifted intercessor and mother to one of the neurologic patients we pray for. These prayers were posted a few days ago on a comment thread. I just now have a block of time to work on this series and want to post them separately.

Dear Holy Father,
Please help us to pray.
Make haste – come to our assistance.

You are Almighty, King, Savior, Redeemer,
We cry out to You alone.
We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.
You are Love, Truth and Life.
We look to Your Word for Wisdom, Counsel and Light
To guide every petition we bring to You.
In Your Word and promises we anchor our hope.

You are Holy, Good, Powerful, Wise
Ever Steadfast, Faithful, True, Loving, Merciful.
You can do all things.
With You, all things are possible,
With You, nothing is impossible.
You reign in glory and majesty.
You are completely Sovereign over all that is.
Your Words created, sustain and rule over everything,
Over all creation, the universe, worlds without end.
Over microcosms and macrocosms,
Over every complex motion of suns, planets, atoms and microparticles.
Over all functions, structures, chemicals,
All their actions, interactions and reactions.
Over cells, mitochondria, particles, atoms, electrons
Every valence and property of every chemical,
The impulses of ever creature.
You created, sustain, order and govern
All these unfathomable complexities and intricacies.
By Your All Powerful Words.
(Hebrews 1:3, Colossians 1:16-17)

Your Words are Spirit and Life – Eternal Life.
You are the Holy Living Word.

You see our afflictions, our perils, tribulations.
You hear our cries,
You know our every thought
You are aware of all our concerns.
You fathom our conundrums.
You are the restorer of our degenerations,
And of our generations.

Dear Father, Great Physician, Rapha, Healer,
Send forth Your Word to heal us of our destructions. (Psalm 107:20)

Send Your sweet, fragrant, beautiful, tender Word of Love
To draw, heal, redeem, delight, rejoice, guide, motivate,
To rule over and empower our hearts,
To deliver our souls from evil
To restore our families, and fellowship with each other
And to make us one with You.

Send forth Your clear, light-filled Word
Your Holy Bread of Sincerity and Truth
To heal and restore our minds,
To guide our thoughts, decisions and actions,
To heal and restore Your Church,
To restore and reconcile teachers, schools,
Lawmakers, judges and nations
To You.

Send forth Your growing, vibrant, powerful Word of Life
To restore our spirits, souls (minds, wills and emotions) and bodies
That have been corrupted, distorted, polluted, damaged
By iniquity, by the nature of the fallen flesh
that is dead and separated from You
By the financial and political world system
By false religious systems
By the consequences of our own willful sins
By our unconscious inclinations and attitudes
By the shaping of others examples
By the painful wounds of others sins,
By the sins and traditions of all generations
That have come to bear against us
And by the wiles of the evil one who roams this world
Looking for opportunity to divide, deceive, defile and destroy.

Help us to utterly and completely reject the words of the evil one
That are always destructive and deceitful.
That always tear down and destroy.

Help us to hear, see, receive and cling to Your Word alone.
Help us to trust Your Word fully and confidently.
Help Your Word penetrate
Through every part of our being.
Help Your Word to restore spirits from pollution and false worship.
So that we may worship You in the beauty of holiness.
Help your Word to protect our souls from false choices.
So that our souls will find rest and peace and joy in You alone.
Help Your Word to restore our bodies,
To function and thrive as Your Word ordains.
So that we, Your people and Church,
May like Peter’s mother-in-law,
May rise up to praise, thank, worship, adore and serve You
With our whole beings.
In Spirit and in Truth.
In Unity of the Spirit,
In the bond of Peace.
In Your Joy forevermore.
In the Name of Jesus Christ,
Amen.

Tulare healing conference

October 8, 2010

St. John’s Episcopal Church, Tulare, California is hosting a conference this weekend on developing a Healing Prayer Ministry in the congregation. Canon Mark Pearson is the featured speaker.
Pearson’s book Christian Healing is one of the first books on healing prayer I ever read. It has been in print for twenty years and rightly so. I wish I didn’t live so far away!
‘Tulare’ means a tule marsh. The tule plant is a giant bulrush.–JW

God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
As an infant, Your prophet Moses was saved in a basket woven of bulrushes. Send Your angels to guard the fledgling parish healing prayer ministry at St. John’s. Guide Canon Pearson and the rector of St. John’s, Fr. Rob Eaton, during the weekend, as surely as You guided the basket floating on the Nile River. Stir within the conference a spirit of humility and trust, like that of Moses.
We cry out for Your divine healing among those who attend and Your blessing upon all of the congregations that are represented. Amen.
