The Middle East

Large-scale demonstrations against the government in Egypt are taking place.
The past few days saw the announcement of a new Prime Minister for Lebanon (Najib Mikati), who is widely seen as a “puppet” under the control of Hizballah and Iran.
Another ominous sign was Iran’s declaration of Jan. 23 of its intent to send warships into the Mediterranean. It remains to be seen whether Egypt will grant them permission to pass through the Suez Canal.
A controversial Iraqi court ruling has sparked fears that Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki is consolidating power by ruling that several important government bodies — including the central bank, the electoral commission and the top anti-corruption council — fall under the authority of the Cabinet, which Maliki heads. Opposition lawmakers accused the prime minister of a power grab.

Exodus 2:23-25 (New Living Translation)
Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.

O God of Israel,
You are the Lord of righteousness, and we bless You. You are the King of the ages, and we exalt You. You are the King of heaven, and we rejoice in You. We declare Your majesty and acknowledge You for all Your mighty acts. Blessed be God who lives forever, because His kingdom lasts throughout all ages.
We pray for all the nations of the Middle East. If there are to be changes in the governments, we humbly ask that the changes be in Your timing and in Your way. We pray for stability in the region, from Egypt to Turkey.
Guard Israel, especially her coastline. Just as the Israelites brushed the blood of a lamb over the side posts and upper posts of the doors of their homes to escape the angel of death, we claim the Blood of the Lamb over the borders of Israel.
The light of Christ shines to all the ends of the earth. We thank You for Your chosen people. We thank You for the nation that gave us the Ten Commandments. We thank You for the nation that gave us the Messiah. May the gates of Jerusalem sing hymns of joy and her houses cry, “Hallelujah!” Amen.
Tobit 13 (Apocrypha)

  1. Georgia says:

    Holy Father,

Israel, the US, Great Britain and other nations that have traditionally followed Your Laws have embraced sexual sin and abortion, materialism and paganism – the spirits of the evil one.

We have passed laws that allow us to break all Your Holy Commandments and some that force us to do so.

In the past, this kind of sinfulness has caused you to allow Babylon and Assyria to rise up and capture and discipline Your people until they repent.

Have mercy and help us to wholeheartedly repent, renounce and completely abandon these evils that offend Your Holiness and are polluting, confusing and destroying us – spiritually, emotionally, mentally, intellectually, morally, physically, relationally and societally.

Our nations and much of the church have become lawless and repugnant in Your eyes.

Please raise up leaders for the nations who know and value Your Word as Truth, who define Love as You do, who respect human life, and who honor and rever Your Holy rightful dominion over Life and Death.

Help us to rediscover the beauty and power of Your Book of the Law. Help us to read it again and let it pierce our hardened inhuman hearts.

Lead us again back to You.

For the sake of Your Name and Your abiding Love, save us from our destructions!!! (Psalm 107)

In the Name of Jesus the ONLY Name under heaven by which we may be saved.
    Amen
