Protection against terrorism

May 5, 2011

From Miracles of the Heart Ministries

Loving Father, in humble trust we draw your attention to every act of violence and terrorism being planned for the United States of America. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to expose and defeat weapons of destruction. We take authority in Jesus’ Name over every planned act of violence and command it to wither and die. Father, forgive those who would seek to harm others and bring them into a healed relationship with our Lord Jesus. Thank You for protecting the Unied States. Thank You for alerting many intercessors to pray a shield of protection around our nation and around those individuals assigned to protect the people of our nation. Holy Spirit, come. Release the peace of Christ into our nation. Thank You, Lord. Amen.

…be well versed in all that is good yet pure as to what is evil and God, the giver of peace, will crush Satan under your feet. (Romans 16:19-20)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

National Day of Prayer

May 5, 2011

A theme of the National Day of Prayer is “A Mighty Fortess is our God.”

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

Proverbs 3:1-10

May 5, 2011

My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; (Proverbs 3:1)
      Father, thank you for the high honor of being called your children. Write your commandments and word on our hearts. Thank you for Jesus making a way for us to come into your presence.

For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. (Proverbs 3:2)
      Father, as our days are, so let our strength be (Deuteronomy 33:25b). Help us daily find our strength in you: flood us with your Holy Spirit. Thank you.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, (Proverbs 3:3)
      Holy Spirit, let mercy and truth come into the political discourses of our nation. Shut the lions’ mouths — all those who would consume your people with falsehood. Keep us secretly in your pavilion from the strife of tongues (Psalm 31:20b).

And so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:4)
      Jesus, help us first and above all seek your honor and glory.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
      Jesus, you daily “walked the walk” of a faithful son, trusting in the larger purposes of your father. Please help us do the same.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones. (Proverbs 3:7-8 )
      Holy Spirit, help us daily seek after your wisdom and truth. Thank you.

Honor the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)
      Father, help us throughout this diocese to give of ourselves and our possessions to the work of your kingdom. Thank you.

A word received: Don’t be afraid. Keep coming to me.

      Praying the Apostles’ Creed

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty,
      Father, thank you that it all depends on your strength and might, and not ours.
Maker of heaven and earth;
      The heavens declare your glory, and the firmament shows forth your handiwork. (Psalm 19:1) The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered with grain; they shout for joy, they also sing to you. (Psalm 65:13)
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord;
      Jesus, there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved but yours. (Acts 4:12)
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
      Holy Spirit, thank you for what you have brought forth in Jesus.
Born of the Virgin Mary;
      Father, thank you that Mary was willing to say, “Yes,” to the angel Gabriel. Thank you for the risk she was willing to take for us.
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      Jesus, thank you for what you were willing to suffer for our salvation; please help us to endure what we must suffer to see the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion restored to Apostolic faith.
Was crucified, dead, and buried;
      Holy Father, please restore to the common life of your people the saving knowledge of what Jesus endured by his crucifixion, death, and burial.
He descended into hell;
      Jesus, you went to the place of the dead to preach to the dead that they might live according to God in the spirit. Thank you. (1 Peter 4:6)
The third day he rose again from the dead;
      Thank you, Jesus; for by your resurrection we have been raised to new life in your Spirit.
He ascended into heaven,
      Jesus, thank you for being taken up into heaven in the sight of your apostolic witnesses. Help us live day by day in the hope that as you were taken up into heaven, so you will come back in like manner. (Acts 1:11)
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
      As with the dying thief on the cross, we too say, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” (Luke 23:42)
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
      Jesus, thank you that there is now no condemnation for those who are in you, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
      Holy Spirit, your law of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Thank you. (Romans 8:2)
The holy Catholick Church;
      Thank you for your church, Jesus; please help it to be a true vessel of your gospel in all places and in all times.
The Communion of Saints;
      THEREFORE with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be to thee, O Lord most High. Amen. (BCP 1662)
The Forgiveness of sins;
      Thank you, Jesus, for washing me with your precious blood and forgiving my sins.
The Resurrection of the body,
      LORD, please help me live day by day in the hope of the resurrection: for I know that my redeemer lives, and he shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not as a stranger. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25-27)
And the Life everlasting. Amen.
      Father, I live in the hope of living forever in your presence. Thank you for this hope that sustains me day by day. Amen.
