Jeremiah 1:1-9

May 10, 2011

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. (Jeremiah 1:1-3)
Lord Jesus Christ, much of your church has been carried away and is captive to empty philosophies.

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: (Jeremiah 1:4)
LORD, speak your word to your people. Put your word in our mouths and in our ears, and write it on our hearts.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)
Jesus, thank you for forming us and shaping us.

Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” (Jeremiah 1:6)
Holy Spirit, come upon the youth of this diocese and the youth going to the Diocesan Convention

But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. (Jeremiah 1:7)
Father, help us to hear what the youth of this diocese are saying to us.

Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD. (Jeremiah 1:8 )
Holy Spirit, set us free from hear. Give us your voice to speak your word to one another. Thank you.

Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. (Jeremiah 1:9)
LORD, put forth your hand and touch our mouths.

A word received: Keep your eyes on me.
