Luke 14:16-24

May 11, 2011

***** From the Diocesan Update:
Diocesan Convention, “Be filled with the Holy Spirit”, is just around the corner June 10 — 12. We have super workshops again this year and our guest bishops and wives will be Bishop Harold and Liz Miller and Bishop Todd and Patsy McGregor.

Then he said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many,” (Luke 14:16)
Holy Spirit, help us throughout the diocese to heed your call to come to the Diocesan Convention.

“and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’” (Luke 14:17)
Jesus, thank you for all your servants who have prepared workshops, talks, meditations, worship, healing, youth ministry…

“But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’” (Luke 14:18 )
Holy Father, help us repent of seeking after the kingdoms of this world in place of your kingdom.

“And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’” (Luke 14:19)
Holy Spirit, help your people see their excuses for what they are and repent of them and sign up for the Diocesan Convention.

“Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’” (Luke 14:20)
Jesus, come into the center of the marriages in this diocese and help us together bring the whole family into your kingdom.

“So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’” (Luke 14:21)
Holy Spirit, help each of us go forth into our parishes and communities and invite others to come to the Diocesan Convention.

“And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Luke 14:22-23)
Jesus, don’t let any of our excuses stop us from going to the Diocesan Convention. Help each of us receive a fresh anointing of your Holy Spirit at the Diocesan Convention.

“For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’” (Luke 14:24)
Father, even now, turn our hearts to receive the ministry of your Holy Spirit. Thank you.

A word received: Pray my people will heed my call.

Protection from terrorism

May 11, 2011

Psalm 83 (New Living Translation)
1 O God, do not be silent!
Do not be deaf.
Do not be quiet, O God.
2 Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies?
Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?
3 They devise crafty schemes against your people;
they conspire against your precious ones. . .
13 O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed,
like chaff before the wind! . . .

May it be so for all terrorists and false media, we pray.

Healing of neurologic disease

May 11, 2011

A while back, I did a series of prayers for the healing neurologic disease. My recent reading (The Effects of Trauma by Jim Banks and Come Up Higher by Paul Cox) has stirred some thoughts on this subject.

Jesus Christ, Carpenter of Nazareth and Builder of the Universe,
All things were created by You and for You–all things, in heaven and in earth, visible and invisible. My eyes do not discern the unseen realities. Yet I believe You have redeemed both the visible and the invisible.
Your body was broken, Your blood was shed, and in three days, You rebuilt the temple of Your body. The day of Your resurrection was the eighth day of creation!
Master Carpenter, by Your blood, cleanse all the contamination of the building blocks of my body, the chemical elements of the seen and unseen portions of my being. (Pause and repent of any personal or generational false assumptions or sins that the Holy Spirit brings to mind.)
I present my body as a living sacrifice to You. I renew my mind by turning away from the personal and generational sins and false assumptions that Your Holy Spirit has brought to my consciousness. You are the image of the invisible God, and You renew the face of the earth by sending forth Your Spirit.
Master Carpenter, by Your body, realign my spirit, soul, and body to the plumbline that extends from Your throne. Disconnect me from all evil forces, including principalities, powers, dominions, thrones, and rulers.
Release my body from the residual effects of personal or genrational trauma and sin.
Bless the tissues of my body to safely remove all wastes, toxins, poisons, or any other by-products of personal and generational trauma and sin.
Command all short-term and long-term effects of trauma and stress to leave.
Shut down all portals or markers that give Satan access to torment me. Cancel all assignments of generational spirits as a result of trauma and sin.
If there is any portion of my being that has been separated from me as a result of personal or generational trauma or sin, I ask You to remove all defilement, fear, or torment from that portion and re-integrate it into its proper place and maturity. Re-unify this portion with my core being.
Master Carpenter, reorder the chemical elements within my being and rebuild my neurologic system. Re-establish the appropriate connections between the left and right hemispheres. Re-establish restorative, regenerative patterns of sleeping and awakening. Dismantle all automatic responses gained as a result of trauma, poverty, or fear.
I thank You, Jesus, for dying to free every aspect of my being. In You I behold the Lamb of God, and I am blessed. Amen.
