Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to him to hear him. (Luke 15:1)
Holy Spirit, thank you for drawing us to Jesus.
And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” (Luke 15:2)
Jesus, thank you for receiving us and sharing a heavenly banquet with us.
So he spoke this parable to them, saying: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:3-7)
Father, thank you for the joy in heaven over each lost sheep that returns to the fold.
Father, please put on all of us the shoes of the preparation to share the gospel of peace; gird our loins with your truth; put on us the breastplate of righteousness, and the helmet of salvation. Place on our arm the shield of faith with which to quench every fiery dart of the evil one; and place in our hand the sword of your Spirit which is your word; that having stood all, we might yet stand. Finally, help us to be strong in Jesus and in the power of his might, and cast off from us the chains of apathy that keep us from speaking boldly as we ought to speak. Thank you. (See Ephesians 6:10-20)
A word received: I AM with you; that is sufficient.
