Matthew 14:22-25

May 31, 2011

Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. (Matthew 14:22)
Jesus, help us follow your instructions.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. Now when evening came, he was alone there. (Matthew 14:23)
Father, help us by your Holy Spirit to be like Jesus — men and women who spend time in prayer with you each day.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. (Matthew 14:24)
Lord Jesus, we are being tossed by so many contrary winds from our culture and the problems of the Episcopal Church. Come and still the wind and the waves with your word of peace (See Mark 4:39)

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:25)
Jesus, come to all who struggle with the wind and waves in the night watches. Visit them with the comfort of your Holy Spirit. Thank you.

A word received: I AM waiting. Come to me. I AM waiting.
