“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36)
Holy Spirit, help us confront the reality of our sin so that we may truly repent.
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)
Jesus, move the hearts of all those you are calling to yourself today to ask that question of your witnesses: “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38 )
Help each of us, Father, know what to say that will point people to Jesus.
“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:39)
Lord, we pray that all of our children and grandchildren will receive this promise of new life in you.
And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” (Acts 2:40)
Lord Jesus, save your people from the hands of this perverse generation.
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. (Acts 2:41)
Holy Father, help all of us receive your word with joy and gladness.
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42)
Jesus, please help us continue steadfastly in the apostolic teaching and doctrine, in the fellowship of your Holy Spirit, in the breaking of bread, and in prayer.
Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. (Acts 2:43)
Jesus, work your signs and wonders among us, and give us eyes to see what you are doing and ears to hear what your are saying.
Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. (Acts 2:44-45)
Holy Spirit, bless our common life together and help us support and help one another as there is any need.
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, (Acts 2:46)
Holy Spirit, bring us to a steady participation in the life of prayer and breaking of bread in your church. Bring us to gladness and simplicity of heart and of life.
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:47)
Father, fill our hearts and your church with the praise of you and your son and your Holy Spirit. Add to our numbers daily those who are being saved. Thank you.
