Egypt and Israel

July 31, 2011

From israel today Magazine:

Meanwhile, tensions between Israel and post-revolution Egypt are again rising after Muslim gunmen bombed the Sinai natural gas pipeline on Saturday, the fifth such attack since Mubarak’s ouster. . . . Israel receives about 40 percent of its natural gas from that pipeline, and having it out of order is setting the stage for an energy cost crisis in the Jewish state.

The latest pipeline attack has reignited the debate over whether or not Israel should continue to purchase natural gas from Egypt, considering that the Jewish state has recently discovered its own massive reserves.

Israel buys natural gas from Egypt as part of the Camp David Accords that brought peace between the two nations.

L&B’s own Torre Bissell was one of the intercessors the Holy Spirit used during the Camp David negotiations between Israel and Egypt. The destruction of the pipeline is a strike against peace.–JW

Father,
Today’s news events make me wonder if we are at a pivotal moment in history. The demonstrations across the Middle East, the US economy, the UN plans to vote on a Palestinian state, and the natural disasters are all evidence of a changing world.
You are our sure foundation. Our feet are grounded in praise. We testify to Your power and give thanks to Your name.
We pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Peace be within her walls and prosperity within her palaces. We say it again: Peace! Peace! Peace!

Romans 8:35-39

July 31, 2011

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Romans 8:35)
Lord, none of these are able to separate us from your love for us. Help us to endure all things for the sake of your love for us.

As it is written: “For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” (Romans 8:36)
Holy Spirit, it doesn’t matter what others think of us, help us to know ourselves through the eyes of Jesus love.

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37)
Father, please help us with Paul to be able to say: “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:11-13)

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
      Amen, Lord Jesus. Amen.

A word received: Pray for my people to return to me — I AM the God of mercy.
