Revelation 2:1-17

July 19, 2011

“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for my name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” (Revelation 2:1-4)
Holy Spirit, restore us to our first love for Jesus.

“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place–unless you repent.” (Revelation 2:5)
Father, please help us recognize how far we have fallen from the grace you gave us in Jesus; help us repent and do the works you have called us to.

“But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”‘ (Revelation 2:6-7)
Jesus, please give us ears to hear what your Holy Spirit is saying to the churches.

“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:8-10)
Jesus, help us seek after the crown of life.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”‘ (Revelation 2:11)
Holy Spirit, help us hear what you are saying to the churches.

“And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says he who has the sharp two-edged sword: “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to my name, and did not deny my faith even in the days in which Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.” (Revelation 2:12-14)
Father, help us truly repent of placing any stumbling block in the way of your people. Help us have your compassion for the lost and the least.

“Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. (Revelation 2:15-16)
Jesus, bring us to repentance and new life in you.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”‘ (Revelation 2:17)
Father, help us overcome the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil. Thank you for the new name you have given to us.

Glory

July 19, 2011

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

O Lord,
I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. Thank You for the revelation of Your glory and the honor and high call of gazing upon it. Amen.

Holy Spirit, continue to fashion us into the people you want us to be.

Behold, he is coming with clouds, and every eye will see him, even they who pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of him. Even so, Amen. (Revelation 1:7)
“He ascended into heaven,” (Apostles’ Creed)

Subject: Urgent – Action Required

Greetings – Please read the message below from Mrs Claire Budd in UK. Then
please sign the petition and show your support.

      Many Blessings
Hi everyone,
Please will you do a massively important thing that will take just a few seconds. Please forward the message below to all of your contacts on email, facebook, twitter, whatever. And please sign the petition yourself here http://www.avaaz.org/en/sudan_enough_is_enough/?copy

This is an urgent message – to all of you. A genocide is happening, right now, in Sudan. If you didn’t know, it’s hardly surprising – there are very few photographs. The Sudanese government is making sure this is hidden from the world. The people of the Nuba Mountains are being murdered. The United Nations is about to leave the country – this weekend. Because Sudan is splitting into North and South. And the president is kicking the UN out. We cannot let these people die. It’s 2011. They can’t call for help – but we can. We can shout very loud indeed, if we all do it together.

The UN needs to act now. The international community needs to act now. WE need to act now. Please sign this petition – write to your political representative and act now, before it’s too late for the Nuba people.

Outsiders in Israel

July 18, 2011

Luke 17:15-16 (NLT)
One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.
As Gentiles, we praise You Father God. Thank You for our salvation and healing through Jesus.

Matthew 15:27 (NLT)
She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”
Jesus, You were sent to help God’s lost sheep–the children of Israel. If we Gentiles can feed on the scraps, what feasts are in store for the children of Israel? Help Your Jewish brothers and sisters to the banquet table!

Luke 7:6-7 (NLT)
So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor. I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.
Just say the word, Jesus, and heal them.

John 4:29 (NLT)
“Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?”
Holy Spirit, stir up witnesses in Israel to the healing power of Jesus.
We stand in agreement with the prophetic words of the Samaritan leper, the Syro-Phoenician woman, the Roman centurion, and the Samaritan woman–words uttered in Israel. Those prophetic words are living and active. We proclaim them into the spiritual atmosphere over Israel.
Jesus is the Messiah! Jesus is the Messiah! Jesus is the Messiah! Amen.

Bells

July 17, 2011

The bells of St Paul’s Cathedral, London, may be heard here.

Raised aloft within the steeple,
All our bells are set on high,
To fulfil their holy mission
In their place ’twixt earth and sky.
Far and near our hearts shall hear them
In our toil and in our rest,
Telling how, in one Communion,
Of one Church, we all are blest.

When God’s day of rest and gladness
Calls us to our Father’s home,
To His house and to His altar
They shall bid His children come;
To the mourners they shall whisper
That the dead in Christ are blest,
And our lost ones they shall welcome
To their Father’s loving breast.

Thus in joy and thus in sadness
Shall our bells, ’twixt earth and sky
Lift our hearts from earth to heaven,
Plead for man with God on high.
Consecrate them, Lord Jehovah,
Holy may they be to Thee,
Whom we laud in adoration,
Ever blessed Trinity.

2 Samuel 14:14
But God does not take away life; instead he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.

O Father,
We are a nation of prodigal sons, squandering our inheritance as children of the Living God and assuaging our appetites with pig swill. Have mercy, Lord. Have mercy.
Convict us of the lies that our souls are telling our spirits. Stir a spirit of confession and humility among us who call ourselves Christian. May our spirits arise in Christ, not in the lies that our culture proclaims. We are new creations in Christ! The old has gone.
We cry out for a chosen people within the United States. May the United States be a light on a hill, a holy nation declaring Your praises. Have mercy, Lord. Have mercy. Amen.
2 Corinthians 5:16-17, 1 Peter 2:9-10

Psalm 30:1-3

July 16, 2011

I will extol you, O Lord, for you have lifted me up, and have not let my foes rejoice over me. (Psalm 30:1)
Father, we continue to cry out to you for this diocese, its clergy and people. Turn our hearts back to you and heal our land.

O Lord my God, I cried out to you, and you healed me. (Psalm 30:2)
Jesus, I cry out to you for your healing touch.

O Lord, you brought my soul up from the grave; you have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. (Psalm 30:3)
Holy Spirit, revive me, revive our parish and this diocese. Help us praise you as we ought. Thank you.

I am no longer my own, but thine. Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt; put me to doing, put me to suffering; let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee; let me be full, let me be empty; let me have all things, let me have nothing; I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thou art mine, and I am thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.

1 John 3:1-3

July 15, 2011

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know him. (1 John 3:1)
Father, thank you for adopting me. Though I walk as a stranger in the world, you are with me. Thank you.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he is revealed, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2)
Jesus, thank you that when you are revealed at that last day, I shall be raised up “tunable and sound”.

And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as he is pure. (1 John 3:3)
Holy Spirit, thank you for the purifying love you give me.-

Psalm 37:1-11

July 14, 2011

Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. (Psalm 37:1)
Thank you, LORD, that you are in charge of my life and that I don’t need to fear what others think or do.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. (Psalm 37:2)
Father, your judgments are sure and true.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. (Psalm 37:3)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

Jesus, help me by your Holy Spirit to find my delight and joy in you.

Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:5)
Jesus, I commit my ways to you and trust you to accomplish your full purposes in my life.

He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. (Psalm 37:6)
Holy Spirit, show forth your righteousness in my life because I have none of my own.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret–it only causes harm. (Psalm 37:7-8 )
Lord, I lay every burden at your feet and will trust you to do what is right.

For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:9-11)
