Psalm 100

August 9, 2011

Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! (Psalm 100:1)
LORD, for too long we have been quiet; help us shout and sing your praises.

Serve the LORD with gladness; come before his presence with singing. (Psalm 100:2)
Holy Spirit, help us enter into the joyful service of Jesus and come into his presence with singing.

Know that the LORD, he is God; it is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; (Psalm 100:3a)
Holy Father, restrain the folly of those who claim to create life and those who wantonly destroy it.

We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. (Psalm 100:3b)
Jesus, so many have wandered away from the flock “nibble by nibble”. Please go out and bring them back rejoicing.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful to him, and bless his name. (Psalm 100:4)
Thank you, Jesus; yours is the name above every other name.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endures to all generations. (Psalm 100:5)
Holy Spirit, help us contend earnestly for the faith which once for all was delivered to the saints. (See Jude 3)

A word received: Pray for the fire of my love to come among you.

August 9, 2011

Today is Tisha be-Av, a day of fasting in the Jewish calendar. It marks the destruction of the first temple by the Babylonians in 580 BC and the second temple by the Romans in 70 AD.

Lamentations 2:13-14 (NLT)
What can I say about you?
Who has ever seen such sorrow?
O daughter of Jerusalem,
to what can I compare your anguish?
O virgin daughter of Zion,
how can I comfort you?
For your wound is as deep as the sea.
Who can heal you?

Your prophets have said
so many foolish things, false to the core.
They did not save you from exile
by pointing out your sins.
Instead, they painted false pictures,
filling you with false hope.

O God,
You alone are true. Fill the eyes of the nation of Israel with pictures of truth and their hearts with hope. Amen.
