The Bus Driver — stopped and gave me a note with these prayer requests:

+Opal (young woman) — “For strength to get through a crazy time.”

(Older woman walking by who did not stop) — “Pray for my anyway.”

+Wendy — “My entire building caught fire and we are stuck in a motel. Maybe we will go back on Wednesday. One person lost everything.”

Bob (he works for the Regional Food Bank) told us that when many of the communities were devastated by the recent flooding by Irene, the agencies that would normally have helped were also wiped out. The Regional Food Bank is trying to get refrigeration units into those communities. They have noticed that people are helping each other.

Joe (from last week) — “When you try to do right, the devil is still there. I feel like he is winning.” He gave the problem of the broken relationship with his girlfriend Cindy to Jesus.

+Andrew (young man) — As soon as he sat down he started weeping. He said that every good thing he tries to do gets smashed up.

+Richard — He is in Alcoholics Anonymous.

+Paula (regular) — Zorrie (age 6) is coming home next week to go to school.

+Johnny — “For Darryl, he is doing bad, he has brain cancer.”

+Blake — “Health.” He has had an aneurism and a stroke and brain surgery. He asked for prayer for restoration of his short-term memory.

John (Paula’s husband) — We prayed his legs would be healed and strengthened and that he would not fall.

+Diana — Prayed for protection.

Mark 15:33-41

Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. (Mark 15:33)
      Father, we pray all those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, that you will give them the light of Jesus to see by and guide their feet into the way of peace. (See Luke 1:79)

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34)
      Jesus, come into the heart and mind of all those who feel abandoned by God and bring them to a new beginning in you. Flood them with your Holy Spirit and help them live the hope of the resurrection.

Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, he is calling for Elijah!” (Mark 15:35)
      Holy Spirit, help us accurately hear what Jesus is saying to us.

Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to him to drink, saying, “Let him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take him down.” (Mark 15:36)
      Father, bless all those who do deeds of kindness and compassion to your little ones — for they do them to Jesus as well.

And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed his last. (Mark 15:37)
      Thank you, Jesus, for the finished work you have done for us on the cross.

Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. (Mark 15:38 )
      Jesus, thank you that by your cross and resurrection you have made a way for us into the Holy of Holies — into the presence of your father.

So when the centurion, who stood opposite him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” (Mark 15:39)
      Holy Spirit, we pray for your witness to the hearts of those who are in our military and police forces: bless them with the knowledge of who you are.

There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, who also followed him and ministered to him when he was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. (Mark 15:40-41)
      Father, bless the witness and prayers of the Daughters of the King and the Sisters of St. Mary and all those women who minister to Jesus and who stand watch with him. Thank you.

WHI Retreat Dayton 23 – 25 Aug 2011 is now over. We are reviewing the entire event and praying and planning for the next new chapter. We are pleased to share the following information with you. Mostly importantly, we are privileged to be a part of this glorious retreat. We would like to affirm the followings:
      1. The Holy Trinity – the Lord God our Father, the Son Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Holy Spirit our Comforter; Creator of Heaven and Earth is alive, mighty to save, willing to forgive, and able to heal today.
      2. The Church, the Body of Christ, in obedience to the Holy Trinity has the Power of the Kingdom of God to do God’s work here on earth.
      3. Jesus Christ is never secondary to medicine or therapy and is never the last resort. Jesus’ love and power are demonstrated through the Church, here and now, for the people of this world bounded by sin and suffering.

      Brief and Partial Summary of Divine Healing Testimonies
      1. During a pre-retreat meeting, an AIA staff member shared with the team of his traumatic brain injury (TBI). The team prayed for him. After the retreat, this AIA staff member reported that his 2-day migraine had not returned since he received prayer.
      2. A USAF Vietnam vet shared that on his way home after the first evening’s talk by Fr. Nigel about his combat trauma and healing, he had to pull his truck over and said to himself, “I have PTSD! I didn’t know that!”
      3. A USA Vietnam vet shared that “I did not know that I had been carrying a series of trauma with me; from early childhood to combat in Vietnam. I wished I had stayed overnight at the retreat. My nerves are so raw when I go home. I need to go to the Nov retreat in Greenwich NY.”
      4. A USA Korean vet shared that “I have been going to VA and Vet Center to talk to other vets about PTSD. I am on the prayer teams at my home church. However, I have not experience this kind of deep healing; not only of my combat trauma but also the trauma of my childhood. I feel free!”
      5. A civil servant stated, “I suffered from moral trauma from very abusive supervisors on my short 6-month deployment in 2008. I learned about this term, moral trauma, from an Austrialian Army chaplian in Nov 2010 WHI Retreat in NY. During my deployment, I prayerfully and humbly brought the issues through the proper chain-of-command. I was beat down and mocked at every step of the way. At one point, I was chewed out and screamed at by two supervisors while the third sat there and watched. They were all seasoned uniformed and civil service professionals. At that time, I had an out-of-body vision seeing a wolf-pack surgically bit me to pieces cleanly without my shedding a drop of blood. I was amazed at the efficiency of the colonel’s machine that solved the problem in-country and on-the-spot, never to reach to HQs back in the US. At this retreat, as Bishop Dave modeled how to tell our story and before we went to our small groups, I had a vision. Same vision of the wolf-pack attack and I was there, torn to pieces without bleeding or crying. But this time, I saw Jesus being torn apart with me! He was in great pains, crying, and bleeding – for me and with me. Seeing this, I cried. I sensed healing taking place even before sharing and prayers began in my assigened small group. I can now better forgive these three supervisors even though I tried many times before. When I feel that I cannot forgive them, I can now close my eyes and see Jesus suffering with me! I am not alone anymore!”
      6. The pocket knife. During a pre-retream team meeting, Fr. Nigel shared that the Lord Jesus showed him that there would be a veteran who owned a very small pocket knife. The vet would use it to clean finger nails. Even though the pocket knife is not large enough to really hurt anyone, for this vet, it was a weapon that he could not give up nor live without. Jesus wants to free this veteran of the need of this weapon. A couple of team members confirmed this as their prayer group prayed the week before. On the last day of the retreat, at the end of the Healing Service, Fr. Nigel remembered this vision. As he closed his eyes to focus on what Jesus was showing him and describing the purposes of this knife, a Vietnam vet pulled out a small two-inch pocket knife and presented it to Fr. Nigel, whose eyes were closed. As Fr. Nigel encouraged the un-named veteran to get rid of the knife in his own privacy, he was shocked to see the knife in hand in front of him. The Vietnam vet gave Fr. Nigel his knife to bring back to the Oratory of Christ the Healing, to be placed among the crutches that are not longer needed. Several days later, this Vietnam vet shared that “I had always carried a knife since Vietnam. Over the years, it grew smaller and smaller; but it was always the first thing I put in my pocket in the morning and last thing I pull out at night. I would go home to retrieve it if I left it home, from anywhere. After the retreat, I am given up all of my weapons, hidden around my house.”
      7. Since there were three groups of veterans and two groups of spouses during the Day 2 afternoon’s prayer time; we did not have a chance to gather all the testimonies of healing and restoration. Our impression is that every veteran who shared and got prayed for received healing. There were at least 3 or 4 veterans that received healing directly related to their intense combat experiences. Almost all received healing from previous trauma in life, especially those from early childhoods. Seasoned prayer intercessors shared that they had not seen this kind of intense re-living of traumatic events without triggering of PTSD episodes, rather experiencing Jesus’s presence with them. Efforts are being made to collect these testimonies in writing and by video recording. We will post them on YouTube, key word “Welcome Home Initiative Testimony”, and another web page when they become available. My wife died less than 2 months after I came to Christ, Not sure why she stayed with me for 38 years. Not sure why she loved me most of the time I hated myself. It is my privilege and honor to thank all of you who prayed for the WHI Dayton Retreat. “WELCOME HOME and THANK YOU” To those who are still on active duty, in the reserves, the Veterans and, their spouses. But a very deep heart felt thank you to all of you who ministered to us in the love of Jesus during the WHI Dayton Retreat. And to the Prayer Warriors who prayed before during and will continue to pray for us after we have all returned to the streams of life.

To all of you who attended and ministered to us, as time passes I may forget your names, please forgive me. But in my heart I will never forget what we all shared together in Dayton, Ohio from 23 – 25 August 2011. First the Love of Jesus for us was at the center of everything we did and shared. Where He was in our lives in the past and the freedom He brought to us through all of you from the demons and pain that have controlled our lives for far to long. We all laughed at times as we shared our experiences. We also wept and cried as we shared our experiences in more detail over the next 3 days. Together on the afternoon of the second day we were given the opportunity to confess and release our feelings of FEAR, guilt, shame, pain, suffering, and the trauma of war and life and the results from these actions in our lives. In “THE END”, I believe that all were freed and healed of their unseen wounds that lived in our minds, in some cases for years or decades by the Love of Jesus. We also shared a very powerful and for me a life changing intimacy with one another and with Jesus.

At the WHI introduction I was asked to briefly share a little about myself including a nick-name if I had one. I was then asked the question of how or what I felt after I came home? “ASHAMED, I responded.”

The WHI Veterans who ministered to us were all trained to fight and die in far away lands. Some were trained to go by sea, by land, or by air and even some to go by all three. But all made the choice to serve. I want to especially thank those from Team WHI, NY and Team WHI, Dayton who made a choice to come to Dayton, Ohio at their own expense to enter our trauma, our pain, and our suffering. All of them ministered to us as only Jesus can. This time together was very special. These men and women brought love, mercy and grace along with the freedom of forgiveness and acceptance in Jesus’ Name.

I will remember you all in prayer for the rest of my life. As I said, I may forget your names over the years but I will never forget your sacrifice to come with the love, mercy and the grace of Jesus to mister to me, the other Veterans and spouses.

Briefly, As a young boy I dreamed of being a soldier like my father and five uncles in (WW II) and so many in my family who served from the Revolution to the current Gulf Wars. I was not expected to serve and it was never suggested that I volunteer. I made the choice on my own and no one knew of my decision until two days before I left. I entered the US Army in 1965 two days after HS Graduation. I completed Basic Training, Advanced Infantry Training, and Jump School. At Christmas in 1966 while on a short leave I became engaged. Mary Jo and I married in September of 1967 and through it all for 38 years until her death in 2005 she stood by my side. In January 1966 I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY. It was here that I was selected to enter the selection process for Special Forces (Green Berets). I was accepted into Special Forces Training Group at Fort Bragg, NC. For the next 11 months I trained to become a radio operator and light weapons expert as well as every aspect of war and survival. As I mentioned on September 23, 1967 I married my HS sweetheart. Returned to Fort Bragg, NC and on November 4,1967 I completed my Special Forces training and was assigned to The First Special Forces Group Okinawa. Cleared post and ten days later I departed for a 22 month tour of duty with the First Special Forces Group SAFASIA Detachment. I was deployed to many Countries over the next 22 months in Southeast Asia.
I was trained to “Free The Oppressed With Honor”, to be one of the best fighting men in the world, and to never leave anyone behind, all part of the Special Forces Code.

The pain began to become real for Mary Jo and in June of 1969 after I returned home. I got off of a slow moving Army bus at SanFrancisco International Airport in civilian clothes, after midnight, because the bus driver was told not to STOP the bus. I began to experience a WAR for my mind I was not prepared for. There was NO “Welcome Home and No Thank You. Only a group of protestors shouting obscenities at us.

I rejected God, I began to hide the pain in alcohol, sin and at times live less than honorably. I chose the oppression of satan and I oppressed and left behind all of those who loved me. I can only love my mother, father and my wife who have passed on in my mind and heart through the memories. Beginning today I will live the rest of my life loving my family, my friends, and those who come into my life by helping to free them from the OPPRESSION of satan. I will listen to them, tell them what Jesus has done in my life, and pray for them in the Name of Jesus knowing that, He WILL NEVER LEAVE THEM BEHIND!

I have a love and peace in my heart today that I have never experienced before, but am prepared for. I have been forgiven of my sins and accepted freedom from oppression by Jesus’ blood at the cross. I was “THANKED” and “WELCOMED HOME” and know it was and OK to have served in the United States Army by all of you. I pray that now after so many years I can begin to live in the motto of a Green Beret I swore to uphold in 1967 even when out of uniform, “TO FREE THE OPPRESSED WITH HONOR” ! But most of all I pray that I will become the man God intended me to be and live a life worthy of what JESUS did for you and me at the cross!

Father Nigel opened the WHI Retreat with Ecclesiastes 3:1-3,
       There is a time and season for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven;
             . . . a time to kill,
                   And a time to heal

I am going to close with the Special Forces Prayer:
Almighty God, Who art the Author of liberty and the Champion of the oppressed.
We the men of Special Forces, acknowledge our dependence upon Thee in the
preservation of human freedom. Go with us as we seek to defend the defenseless
and to free the enslaved. May we remember that our Nation, whose motto is “In God
We Trust” expects that we shall acquit ourselves with honor, that we may never bring
shame upon our faith, our families or our fellow man.
Grant us wisdom from Thy mind, courage from Thine heart, strength from Thine arm
and protection from Thine hand.
It is for Thee that we do battle, and to Thee belongs the Victors Crown.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

I want to thank all of the staff at the Legacy Center for making us WELCOME, comfortable and well fed.
I thank the staff and the fifth grade classes at Xenia Christian who made signs, and cheered as they lined the sidewalk during the parade. Many of us wept.

The wall is finished

Nehemiah 6:15-16 (NLV)
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all those who hated us heard about it, all the nations around us were afraid and troubled. For they saw that this work had been done with the help of our God.

Lord God Almighty,
You and You alone are the sure defense of Jerusalem. Amen.

United Nations

The preamble to the charter of the United Nations begins thus:

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED
to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and

There is no mention of God, and, based on the number of war deaths since 1945, the organization has failed its mandate.
According to e-mail reports, predictions of the upcoming vote in the United Nations favor Palestinian statehood. Most nations that oppose the plan will not have the courage to vote against it, but will abstain.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
I realize that the foundational covenant of the United Nations is not established in God. Yet, cannot the prayers of the saints open windows of mercy?
You promised Abram that You would bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him. We cry out for the nations in this upcoming vote on a Palestinian state. Have mercy and stir the hearts of the leaders of the nations to bring their votes in alignment with Your will.
Open their eyes to see Your hand at work in the earth and teach them to fear not. Oh, that the nations of the earth would be blessed, rather than cursed!
Have mercy, Lord. Have mercy. Bring light and truth to dispel darkness, liberty to do away with slavery, salvation to dispel ruin, and peace and prosperity to do away with wars and insecurity. Bless the nations, Lord. Bless them with wisdom and courage. In particular, bless the United States. Amen.
Genesis 12:2-3

Mark 15:11-21 and Psalm 37:1-6

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with him whom you call the King of the Jews?” So they cried out again, “Crucify him!” Then Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they cried out all the more, “Crucify him!” So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged him, to be crucified. (Mark 15:11-15)
      Lord Jesus, raise up in our day rulers whose hearts will be set to obey you rather than the clamor of the crowd.

Then the soldiers led him away into the hall called Praetorium, and they called together the whole garrison. And they clothed him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Then they struck him on the head with a reed and spat on him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped him. And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him. (Mark 15:16-20)
      Holy Spirit, give to the soldiers and other military of the nations a heart to refrain from cruelty to prisoners. Please put an end to the summary executions that are happening in places of conflict around the world.

Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear his cross. (Mark 15:21)
      Jesus, help us bear your cross in our day. Thank you.

Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. (Psalm 37:1-2)
      Father, in our day we hear many who spew out anger and hatred towards others — have mercy on us and help us seek your righteousness.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:3-4)
      Holy Spirit, help us this day find our delight and joy in what you are doing among us. Thank you.

Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. (Psalm 37:5-6)
      LORD, once again we make the choice to commit our ways to you. Thank you for receiving us into your care.

Last week I got the chance to have my first look inside the new Metropolitan College campus in the TQ. It’s fab! From the inner courtyard (complete with pond!) to the top class facilities (everything from massive catering kitchens to hairdressing salons to spray-tan booths), it’s going to have a huge impact on the TQ – and hopefully on the lives of the students who attend it. Penitence

It is in the sixth month of the Hebrew calendar, Elul, that Ezekiel was taken in a vision from Babylon to the temple in Jerusalem to see the great wickedness there (chapters 8-11). This prayer is based on the revealed sins.

Our Father in heaven,
We confess that:
Jealousy sits at the gate of our hearts.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Christ, have mercy on Your people.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
In arrogance, we believe that You do not see and hear our idolatry. How many ways we have offended You! Even the images of these false gods are written on the walls of our hearts.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Christ, have mercy on Your people.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
We have exalted sexuality in our culture.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Christ, have mercy on Your people.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Freemasonry remains in our land, and its curses in our bloodlines.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Christ, have mercy on Your people.
Lord, have mercy on Your people.
Have mercy on Your people in the United States of America and Your people in Israel. We are in anguish for our bloodshed and perversity, for our leaders’ iniquity and wicked counsel.
Do not leave us! Spare us from destruction. Hear our pleas, we pray. Amen.
