Psalm 42:1-8

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God. (Psalm 42:1)
LORD, I long for your living water.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:2)
Jesus, please help me come into your presence. Quench my thirst with your living water.

My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” (Psalm 42:3)
Father, you know my grief over my sins; help me answer those who doubt your goodness.

When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. (Psalm 42:4)
Holy Spirit, help us enter into worship tomorrow with your joy. Help us celebrate what Jesus has done for as as a community of faith.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. (Psalm 42:5)
Thank you, Father, for those who pray for me. Thank you for those Aarons and Hurs who hold up my hands in prayer and encourage me. (See Exodus 17:8-13)

O my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, and from the heights of Hermon, from the Hill Mizar. (Psalm 42:6)
Holy Spirit, help me daily remember all that Jesus has done for me.

Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterfalls; all your waves and billows have gone over me. (Psalm 42:7)
Lord, so often I am in deep waters, but you continue to pluck me out as you did Peter. Thank you. (See Matthew 14:28-30)

The LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me–a prayer to the God of my life. (Psalm 42:8 )
LORD, thank you for the hope that you give me: that morning by morning I will come into your presence. Thank you. Thank you for being the rock of my salvation and the high tower that I can flee into day by day.

A word received: Let me be your hope.
