But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.” (Luke 1:13-14)
Jesus, bring the joy of the new life you offer us into the lives of the families of this diocese.
“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.” (Luke 1:15)
Holy Spirit, help many to hear your call and experience your anointing to live a devout and holy life. Raise up vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, the Franciscans of the Holy Cross, and the Daughters of the King.
“And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.” (Luke 1:16)
Father, raise up witnesses throughout this diocese that will turn many back to you, the Lord our God.
“He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ (Malachi 4:5-6) and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Luke 1:17)
Jesus, send forth witnesses in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make us a people prepared for you. Thank you.

Oh, how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who fear you, which you have prepared for those who trust in you in the presence of the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of your presence from the plots of man; you shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. (Psalm 31:19-20)
Protect us from “the strife of tongues” and from those who spread poison and hatred into our civic life.

Subject: Daily quote…
Right now I am sitting in the dark, and in the silence, and in the peace of expectancy. The Lord is coming soon, very soon. Everything is ready, I have all that I need for the great day. Nothing more, nothing less. The Christ child is on His way. Listen to the silence. What an entire peace… Here, I give you some divine peace…

Subject: The Tear Drop…
Yesterday there was a single tear drop on the paten as I celebrated the Holy Eucharist before the staff and volunteers Christmas party. It was located at the farthest point in front of me. Was it your tear Lord? A single tear drop at the loss of life for those who died in the Iraqi war as the last troops left Iraq yesterday. The Bible writes, “Peace on earth and goodwill to mankind.” Will we see this peace in our lifetime Jesus?
