John 8:12 and Romans 12:1-8

February 8, 2012

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Jesus, help me daily follow you and walk by your light.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
Holy Spirit, put on each of us the helmet of salvation to protect our minds and thoughts from being conformed to the world.

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:3-8 )
Father, please help each of us recognize the gifts and graces you have given us and use them daily for your kingdom purposes. Thank you.

      Notes from the Front Line

***** Start now reading and reflecting on the lessons for Sunday so that you can receive all that God has for you (Mark 1:40-45; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 2 Kings 5:1-15b; Psalm 42:1-7).

If you hear something twice, God is speaking in stereo. If you hear it four times, He is really speaking to you in quadraphonic! Pay attention. Perhaps, just perhaps, He is trying to tell you something. Psalm 62:11 writes: “One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong. ” You know if you ask God something in prayer, perhaps we need to listen to His reply! Take some time to listen to the Lord today.

Subject: A Lenten fast
Hi Torre,
I thought I’d share this with you. Yesterday I received a word from the Holy Spirit that in our parish (St. Mark’s) we are to fast together this Lent. Not from food, but from all negativity and dishonor of one another in the body of Christ. The Lord wants to bless us in this.
