Romans 8:1-11 and Sunday School Lesson

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)
Jesus, please help us walk daily in your ways.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)
Holy Spirit, bring us into the freedom you have for us.

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: he condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:3-4)
Father, thank you for doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Please help us accept everything you have done for us through your son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Thank you.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5)
Holy Father, please help us live according to your Spirit. Turn the hearts of those at the General Convention away from giving into the things of the flesh.

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6)
Jesus, please help the bishops and deputies recognize the choice you have placed before them and choose life and peace.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:7-8 )
Holy Spirit, set your people free from being carnally minded so that they can please you.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. (Romans 8:9)
Lord Jesus Christ, we pray for a fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit on your church.

And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (Romans 8:10)
Jesus, come and dwell in me and bring me to new life.

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)
Jesus, give new life to our mortal bodies. Thank you for your Holy Spirit.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14) May God bless and heal America.
