Yemen is a mountainous country surrounded by narrow coastal plains. The rugged terrain fosters isolation of the tribes. Only 27% of the population lives in urban areas.
Psalm 97:1-7 (NIV)
1 The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
Yes, Lord, let the Yemeni shores on the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea rejoice that You reign.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.
Father, righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne in Yemen. We do not apprehend the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms over Yemen. But You do. Pour out Your contempt on demonic princes and loosen the belt of the strong man, disabling his stronghold over Yemen. (Ephesians 6:12, Job 12:21)
4 His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
We praise You, Lord. O Lord my God, you are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; You stretch out the heavens like a tent and lay the beams of Your upper chambers on their waters. You make the clouds Your chariot and ride on the wings of the wind. You makes winds Your messengers, and flames of fire Your servants. (Psalm 104:1-4)
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
This is what the Lord says—
the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel—
to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation,
to the servant of rulers:
“Kings will see you and stand up,
princes will see and bow down,
because of the Lord, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Father, we thank You that You have brought us, miserable sinners and Gentiles, into the household of faith. May there be a time of favor for Yemen. In the day of salvation, bring them under the blood covenant of Jesus Christ to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ May they feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill, neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them.
Jesus, You are the Chosen One, the Holy One of Israel. You are faithful. Have compassion on them, guide them, and lead them beside springs of water. Turn their mountains into roads, and raise up highways of holiness. (Isaiah 49:7-11)
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all peoples see his glory.
7 All who worship images are put to shame,
those who boast in idols—
worship him, all you gods!
We stand in agreement with God’s Holy Word for the nation of Yemen. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord in Yemen. Amen.
