Luke 22:39-42 and Galatians 5

Coming out, he went to the Mount of Olives, as he was accustomed, and his disciples also followed him. When he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is your will, take this cup away from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:39-42)
A word received: Make the choice to desire my Father’s will above your own.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize every yoke of bondage for what it is and reject it.

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (Galatians 5:13)
Jesus, help us show forth your love to one another.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14)
Father, as you did with the Good Samaritan, give us eyes to see those in need around us and love them with Jesus’ love.

But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! (Galatians 5:15)
(Blessing adapted from the Anglican Christian community in Ceylon, Pakistan, and India:)
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, who is mightier than all the hosts of Satan, and more glorious than all the angels of heaven, abide with us in our going out and our coming in; by day and by night; at morning and at evening; at all times and in all places.
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, protect and deliver us from the wrath of evil persons; from the assaults of evil spirits; from foes invisible; from the snares of the Evil One; and from all low passions that beguile the soul and body.
May the Name of Jesus protect and deliver us.
And the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with us this day and always. Amen.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)
Jesus, please help us daily walk in your Spirit. Thank you.

A word received: Don’t be afraid. I have you in my hand.

      Notes from the Front Line

***** Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As you may be aware, the social and political situation in Egypt is filled with unrest. Archbishop Mouneer Hanna Anis, Bishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa and President Bishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East has issued a letter to all in the Anglican Communion to pray against violence in Egypt. I would like to encourage all of you in the Diocese to pray for peace in Egypt and throughout the Middle East, that the tensions would ease and the love of Christ prevail.
The letter from Archbishop Anis is below, or you can read it by clicking http://www.anglicannews.org/news/2013/06/bp-mouneer-pray-against-violence-in-egypts-protests.aspx .
Faithfully your Brother in Christ, +Bill
