Much of the male population’s meager income supports the habit of chewing “qat,” (or khat) a green leaf that acts as a mild stimulant inducing euphoria when chewed. To understand how devastating this legal addiction is to the economy, watch this two minute video.
Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
Jesus, You are Faithful and True, The Word of God, and the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Honor and majesty are Yours yesterday, today, and forever.
Yet, You made Yourself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, You humbled Yourself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted You and given You the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus, Redeemer, we speak Your precious name against the spirit of qat addiction. You appeared to destroy the works of the devil. You proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. We stand in agreement with You.
Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power in the land of Yemen. Amen.
Psalm 119:103-104 (AMP)
How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
O Father, would that they would chew on Your Holy Word. Increase the supply of Bibles in Yemen. Amen.
