O God,You are the only lawgiver and judge who has absolute power of life and death. Forgive us for passing judgment on the unborn. They are not our children, but Yours, Lord. Have mercy and forgive us our sins. Amen.

Our Father,
You deliver those who have no helper and save the lives of the needy. Precious in Your sight is their blood.
We cry out for the unborn in the USA. Deliver them from violence. You are our Redeemer. Amen.

Scriptures to use in praying for the nation and the upcoming elections

October 25, 2012

The following list of Scriptures to use in praying for our nation and for the 2012 Elections is from Anglican Priests for Life, via VirtueOnline.

It is critical that Christians pray for the coming presidential election. There is amazing power in united prayer. Pray with others whenever possible. The power of prayer can overcome any obstacle or ungodly influence and, indeed, do great things.

II Chronicles 7:14 – If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, will heal their land.

Acts 17:30 – Pray for repentance for yourself and for our nation.

Psalm 32:6-7 – Pray that Christians will be motivated to pray faithfully for this election and that the Lord would deliver us from the wrong leaders.

Proverbs 16:13 – Pray that our nation will listen to the truth and not be led astray.

Psalm 125 – Pray that those who trust in the Lord will not be shaken.

Psalm 86:14-17 – Pray that the Lord would defeat those who have no regard for Him in this election.

II Kings 13:16 – Pray that the Lord would put His hands on the man of His choice for president (and his team) and guide them in this election.

Luke 12:54-57 – Pray that God’s man and our nation will be discerning and do what is right.

Psalm 16:7-8 – Pray that the Lord would give wise counsel and guidance to His choice for president in this campaign.

Proverbs 1:5-6 – Pray that God’s man will listen with discernment, add to his knowledge, and receive wise counsel in this campaign.

John 16:33 – Pray that the man of God’s choice would be given wisdom and ability from the Lord to overcome any obstacle or difficulty during this campaign.

Philippians 4:13 – Pray that the Lord’s choice for President will have special strength and unusual ability from God.

Psalm 18:32-36 – Pray that the Lord would arm the man of His choice with strength; would guide him in battle (this election); and would sustain him and give him victory.

Hebrews 11:32-34 – Pray that God’s man could, through faith, persevere and maintain his courage throughout this election.

2 Corinthians 12:9 – Pray that the Lord would empower and enable his man in any area of weakness.

Habakkuk 1:5 and 3:2 – Pray that the Lord would do something that would utterly amaze us.

I would encourage each of our readers to read and pray from one or two of these Scriptures each day through the Nov. 6 elections.  – Karen

Dear Heavenly Father,
You formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. We bless You.

At our creation, Your eyes saw our unformed substance. We praise You for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. You fashioned our eyes, so intricately balanced–the sclera, the lens, the pupil, the tiny muscles, the retina, the vitreous, the blood vessels, the optic nerve and all the neural pathways. Marvelous are Your works.
We cry out. We cry out for spiritual eyes, Lord. Give us eyes to see the unborn as You see them. Purify our hearts. Deliver us from Satan’s oppression and bless us with an understanding of Your truth. Grant us a spirit of repentance and a love of Your truth. Heal our spiritual blindness.
We want to follow You. Help us to fix our eyes on You. You are our hearts’ desire. Amen.

Genesis 2:7, Psalm 43:2-3, 139:14-16, Hebrews 12:1, 2 Corinthians 4:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11

Jeremiah 44:20-23 ESV
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, men and women, all the people who had given him this answer: “As for the offerings that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your officials, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them? Did it not come into his mind? The Lord could no longer bear your evil deeds and the abominations that you committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation and a waste and a curse, without inhabitant, it is this day. It is because you made offerings and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in his law and in his statutes and in his testimonies that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day.”

Our Father in heaven,
We have sacrificeed our unborn children to Properity, to Convenience, to Social Respectability, to Secrecy, to Autonomy.
Lord, have mercy upon our land.
Christ, have mercy upon our land.
Lord, have mercy upon our land. Amen.

Jeremiah 32:35 (ESV)
They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Roughly 54 million legal induced abortions have been performed in the United States.

Lord, have mercy upon our nation.
Christ, have mercy upon our nation.
Lord, have mercy upon our nation.

Dear Father,
When Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem, the construction site was so sacred, that only blocks dressed at the quarry were used. No hammer, chisel, or iron tool was heard at the construction site.
We who are people of the New Covenant have received the Holy Spirit. Our bodies are not our own, but temples of the Holy Spirit. Help us to think on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, that which is excellent and worthy of praise.
As we gather at Your altar and receive the body of Your Son, may we also receive His humility. Help us to live our lives by giving our bodies and desires up for one another. Amen.

Lord Almighty,

Each one of us has been personally created by You. Our personhood is not measured by our skills, but by the image of Your likeness. We thank You for the dignity of life. Amen.

40 days for life

October 18, 2012

From Priests for Life (Roman Catholic):
O God, we acknowledge you today as Lord,
Not only of individuals, but of nations and governments.

We thank you for the privilege
Of being able to organize ourselves politically
And of knowing that political loyalty
Does not have to mean disloyalty to you.

We thank you for your law,
Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged
And recognized as higher than any human law.

We thank you for the opportunity that this election
year puts before us,
To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote,
But to influence countless others to vote,
And to vote correctly.

Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation,
Their response to you requires that they be politically active.

Awaken your people to know that they are
not called to be a sect fleeing the world
But rather a community of faith renewing the world.

Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer
Are the hands that pull the lever in the voting booth;
That the same eyes that read your Word
Are the eyes that read the names on the ballot,
And that they do not cease to be Christians
When they enter the voting booth.

Awaken your people to a commitment to justice
To the sanctity of marriage and the family,
To the dignity of each individual human life,
And to the truth that human rights begin when human lives begin,
And not one moment later.

Lord, we rejoice today
That we are citizens of your kingdom.

May that make us all the more committed
To being faithful citizens on earth.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Ecclesiasticus 36:12
Lord, have mercy on Israel, the people who are known by your name, whom you called your first-born son.

Psalm 122:6-9 NLT
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May all who love this city prosper.

Lord, we pray for Jerusalem, Your first-born, and for all of Your unborn in the US. May all those who love them prosper.
O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls
and prosperity in your palaces.

O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and palaces. O unborn, may there be peace within the womb.
For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,
“Peace be with you.”

For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be with Jerusalem and with the unborn.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.

For the sake of Your house, O Lord our God, we will seek what is best for Jerusalem and the unborn. Amen.

‘Holy’ is the only word in the Bible that is repeated three times, found in Isaiah and Revelation.

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
Psalm 40:16 KJV

O Lord,
You are a holy God and worthy to be praised. Stir in Your children who reside in the United States of America a spirit of praise today. Bring to their awareness forgotten hymns. Let new hymns be written. May there be a sound of song magnifying Your holy name over the entire nation, a sound that fills the air, a life-giving sound. Life! Life! Life!
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord. Amen.

40 Days for Life

October 14, 2012

From Anglican Priests for Life:

Childermas Day Prayer – This is conjectured to have been derived from the masses said for the souls of the Innocents who suffered from Herod’s cruelty. It is to commemorate their slaughter that Innocents or Childermas-day is appropriated, and hence the name it bears.

We remember this day, O God, the slaughter of the holy Innocents of Bethlehem by the order of King Herod. Receive, we beseech thee, into the arms of thy mercy all innocent victims; and by thy great might frustrate the designs of evil tyrants and establish thy rule of justice, love, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator,

Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
so that, with every trial withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be “one nation, under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

40 Days for Life

October 10, 2012

From Anglican Priests for Life:

Almighty God, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ went about doing good, and healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people: Continue, we beseech thee, this his gracious work among us (especially in the Prayer life of The Order of the Holy Innocents); cheer, heal, and sanctify the sick; grant to the physicians, surgeons, and nurses wisdom and skill, sympathy and patience; and send down thy blessing upon all who labour to prevent suffering and to forward thy purposes of love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

40 Days for Life

October 7, 2012

From Anglican Priests for Life:

O Heavenly Father, we pray this day for the children of the world. We pray that Thou wilt protect, guide, and provide for those children who are unwanted, unloved, abandoned or abused. We pray for those children who have been left unguarded by being orphaned. We pray for those most in peril, the unborn. Spare them, O Father, from the dangers of disease and drugs, an uncaring mother or father, but most of all from an untimely death at the hands of another. Replenish Thy Church, O God, with a fruitful offspring so that the Church may resound with the joy of their small voices that will one day turn to prayer unto thee, O Lord. Amen
