Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. (Matthew 28:16)
Jesus, please guide our footsteps so that we go to the places and do the things you have appointed for us. Please let the Diocesan Convention be place of meeting you.
When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. (Matthew 28:17)
Holy Spirit, you know all our doubts and fears, help us worship Jesus in spite of them. Please help all of us worship you at the Diocesan Convention.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” (Matthew 28:18)
Scripture describes moral chaos as, “In those days there was no king in Israel, everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 17:6, 21:25) Father, we live in such a time; please help us accept and live under the authority you have given your son Jesus.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19)
Father, immerse us in the authority you have given Jesus; immerse us in the obedience of Jesus; immerse us in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Father, the Episcopal Church desperately needs a fresh baptism of repentance and your Holy Spirit, come soon and visit your people.
“teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:20)
Jesus, you did not teach as the scribes did, for you taught the people as one having authority. (Matthew 7:29) Bring the leaders and clergy of the Episcopal Church under your authority so that they can teach as you taught. Lord, we are a people in rebellion against all authority, doing what is right in our own eyes and not what is right in your sight; please help us repent and return to you and your ways. You submitted yourself to the Father’s authority and purposes; please help us do the same. Thank you.
A word received: I long for my people to know me.
***** The Daughters of the King retreat is at Spiritual Life Center this weekend, Friday to Sunday. (Some are coming from National office and dioceses that agree with the national church.)
Lord, we pray that this will not be a problem and disruption in the meetings. We pray for peace and unity in you. Raise up intercessors among the Daughters who will sit around the edge of the meetings and pray for the Lord’s protection, peace and unity. We also pray that if anything is brought up which is meant as a challenge to your teaching that it will just not be heard.
