1 Corinthians 3:16-18 and Psalm 127:1

November 25, 2008

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
Holy Spirit, please restore this knowledge to the Episcopal Church — that we are the temple of God.

If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. (1 Corinthians 3:17)
Father, we pray for those who defile their temple by fornication, idolatry, adultery, homosexual practices, theft, covetousness, drunkenness, or extortion: call them to repentance and cleanse their temples. Bring them to holiness. (From 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. (1 Corinthians 3:18 )
Jesus, the wisdom of this age has become folly and the present financial crisis shows the magnitude of our folly. Have mercy on us and lead this nation and your people back into your ways.

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)
LORD, rebuild us so that we are your building and workmanship. You are the master builder and we want to be built upon no other foundation than that which is laid in Jesus Christ. (From 1 Corinthians 3:9-11)

A word received: Keep to my path. Pray for my people to stay on the path I have marked out for them.
