Will We be Ready?

Filed under: Advent Devotionals — Karen B.

When will he come
and how will he come
and will there be warnings
and will there be thunders
and rumbling of armies
coming before him
and banners and trumpets?
When will he come
and how will he come
and will we be ready?

Isaiah 9:2, 2 Thessalonians 3:16, Psalm 32:1-2,10

December 13, 2008

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. (Isaiah 9:2)
Lord, the Episcopal Church has been walking in great darkness; help us see your light; we have been dwelling in the shadow of death, let your light shine upon us.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize those things which will truly make for our peace and seek them out and do them so that Jesus will be with us in every way.

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (Psalm 32:1)
Father, please bring us to this place of blessing.

Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. (Psalm 32:2)
Jesus, thank you for all that you have done for us.

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. (Psalm 32:10)
Lord Jesus Christ, please help us place our full trust in you so that this diocese will be surrounded by your mercy. Thank you.

A word received: Wait on me: turn to me. Turn to me and receive my blessing.

A word received: I AM with you. I AM calling you to new hope in me. I want you to choose to trust me day by day: make it a daily choice.
