For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, (Colossians 1:9a)
Holy Spirit, bring us to unceasing prayer.

and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; (Colossians 1:9b)
Holy Spirit, fill the people of this diocese with the knowledge of Jesus’ will for them with wisdom and understanding.

that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; (Colossians 1:10)
Father, help us walk in a worthy manner with Jesus and produce good fruit in everything we do and increase our knowledge of you.

strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; (Colossians 1:11)
Father, please send your Holy Spirit upon us and baptize us with his glorious power and produce in us the fruit of patience, longsuffering and joy.

giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:12)
Father, thank you for all that you have done in our lives and for daily giving us light to see by.

Repentance

January 7, 2010

Dear Heavenly Father,
Noah walked with You. He was righteous and blameless, doing all that You commanded him.
O Lord, my iniquities testify against me. My sins are many.
Enoch walked with You 300 years and then was taken away by You.
O Lord, my iniquities testify against me. My sins are many.
You have called me to be the temple of the living God. What agreement has the temple of God with idols? With the sword of the Spirit, I sever all agreement with the idol of ____.
You are my heart’s desire. You are my God. I wish to be Your child and walk with You. Amen.
Genesis 5:23-24, 6:9,22, Jeremiah 14:7, 2 Corinthians 6:16

Vice President Joseph Biden

January 7, 2010

Biography of Vice President Biden.
(On googling, I have come to realize that prayers for the Vice President, compared to prayers for the President, are practically nonexistent.–JW)

Our Father in heaven,
You are good, a refuge in times of trouble. You care for those who trust in You.
The Pilgrims at Plymouth relied on prayer during their first and darkest winter. Our founding fathers also called for prayer during the Constitutional Congress. You have blessed our nation in more ways than we can know.
We pray that Vice President Biden will turn to You and place his trust in You. Care for him and protect him from all assaults of the enemy as he leads our nation. Amen.
Nahum 1:7

Prayers for our nation can be found at this Roman Catholic website and this evangelical ministry. An Episcopal novena for our nation is found here.
