Sudan elections

April 5, 2010

Most of Sudan’s political opposition parties threatened on Thursday to boycott upcoming elections, following months of concerns raised in the south over insecurity and poor preparation for the polls, according to news reports. The largest opposition party, the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement, said on Wednesday it was withdrawing its presidential candidate, but it would contest parliamentary and municipal elections.

Our Father in heaven,
We speak Your justice and Your truth over Sudan. Amen.

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, (1 Corinthians 15:1)
Holy Spirit, please help us declare the gospel so that others may stand on its truth.

by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you–unless you believed in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:2)
Father, please help us hold fast to your word.

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (1 Corinthians 15:3)
Jesus, thank you for dying for our sins. Thank you for fulfilling the Scriptures.

and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, (1 Corinthians 15:4)
Holy Spirit, thank you for raising Jesus from death and the grave on the third day.

and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. (1 Corinthians 15:5-7)
Jesus, thank you for appearing to all those witnesses who faithfully handed down their witness of your resurrection to us.

Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. (1 Corinthians 15:8 )
Thank you, Jesus, for appearing to Paul and for establishing the ministry you ordained for him. Thank you for coming and living in our hearts as well.

For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (1 Corinthians 15:9)
Jesus, we pray that you will turn the hearts of those who persecute the church in our day as you did with Paul.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Jesus, thank you for your grace and mercy which work in our hearts today.

Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:11)
Father, please help many to be won to Christ by our witness — please empower our witness by your Holy Spirit. Thank you.
