+ Tyheme — young man in his late teens or early 20’s – asked prayer for a “prosperous life” – we prayed both for financial prosperity and spiritual prosperity — that his soul would prosper

+ Lowell — man got off the bus and walked over to the table; Lowell is a believer who has come for prayer and has helped intercede for others before at the prayer table; he has been in Connecticut and just recently returned to Schenectady; we prayed for him and his family; he stayed at the table for the remainder of the hour and helped pray for folks who stopped; he plans to join us for the 9am breakfast Sunday morning and the special Sunday School teaching series on the Holy Spirit

+ Larry — older man, said he would like prayer for his family but he needed to get back to work – we prayed for him and his family, for good health and God’s provision

Fourth Global South to South Encounter

April 17, 2010

O Lord,
Be with the church leaders attending the South to South Encounter. Let none of their words fall to the ground. May all of the Anglican Communion recognize them as Your prophets. Amen.

John 16:33 and 1 Peter 4:7-11

April 17, 2010

“These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Jesus, please overcome what is worldly in me. Win the victory in me and bring me to good cheer.

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. (1 Peter 4:7)
Holy Spirit, come and move in my heart as I pray.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8 )
Thank you, Lord, that your love and your blood have covered my sins.

Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. (1 Peter 4:9)
Holy Trinity, one God, you have brought us into your fellowship with one another. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as you have done that for us, help us do that for others. Thank you.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10)
Father, please help us daily give and receive ministry to and from others in the body of your son Jesus.

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. (1 Peter 4:11a)
Holy Spirit, help me speak at your bidding.

If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 4:11b)
Father, please help me daily use the gifts and talents you have given me for the building up of your kingdom.

to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:11c)
Jesus, please help us daily bring you glory. Have your way with us so that your dominion will be evident in our lives. Thank you.

A word received: Wait on me. Turn your attention to me. Keep me in focus. Don’t be dismayed or distracted by the folly of the world and flesh.

We praise God that Mother Miriam was transferred out of the Cardiac-Pulmonary Surgery Unit to a regular room this afternoon. Her spirits are great and her body is showing signs of solid post-surgical healing. We are all grateful for the prayers of so many caring friends.
Arrangements have been made for the sacraments to be administered during the couple of days remaining to her hospital stay, and we ask her friends, clergy and lay alike, to NOT VISIT her in the hospital. Mother Miriam hopes to master the remaining rehabilitation milestones needed as quickly as possible, to recover as needed for a week or so at the convent, and then be available for visiting.
Pray with us for continued protection for her time in the more public wing of the hospital and for a speedy return to the convent.
