Matthew 13:44-52

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” (Matthew 13:44)
Holy Spirit, please help everyone in this diocese find the treasure of the gospel and for joy over it leave all to keep it in their hearts.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” (Matthew 13:45-46)
Jesus, please help us recognize the cost of the gospel and be willing to give all to gain it in our lives.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.” (Matthew 13:47-48 )
Father, thank you for casting out your net and catching me. Please help me be among the good that are gathered into your kingdom.

“So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 13:49-50)
LORD, that day of judgment and separation is a fearsome day: give us a holy fear of the consequences of sin and separation from you.

Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” (Matthew 13:51)
Lord Jesus, please give us understanding of these things.

Then he said to them, “Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.” (Matthew 13:52)
Jesus, please help us treasure both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Help us by your Holy Spirit share with others how you have revealed your father’s love for us in that great treasure.

A word received: Give me your time again.

A word received: You are in my care.

Fortnight of intercession for the Diocesan Convention
Daily: In the Name + of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
V.      We glory in your cross, O Lord, and praise and glorify your holy resurrection;
R.      for by virtue of your cross joy has come to the whole world.
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen. (Holy Cross Day, Sept 14)
*      Monday, May 31 Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Scripture Verse: Simeon blessed them and said to his Mother, Behold this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign tht is opposed (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also) so that the thoughts of many hearts can be revealed. Luke 2; Standing by the cross of Jesus was his Mother. John 19
Pour your grace into our hearts, O Lord, that we who have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ, announced by an angel to the Virgin Mary, may by his cross and passion be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever Amen.
