Romans 12:9-16 and Report from Belfast and the Titantic Quarter

July 16, 2010

Let love be without hypocrisy. (Romans 12:9a)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize and repent of our own hypocrisy.

Abhor what is evil. (Romans 12:9b)
Jesus, give us a desire for you that will overcome every trap of temptation.

Cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9c)
Father, please help us cling to what you call good — what the world calls “good” is crazy.

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; (Romans 12:10)
Holy Spirit, let this affectionate love and brotherly love mark all our parishes.

not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; (Romans 12:11)
Holy Spirit, help us “get off the dime” and be doers of the word.

rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; (Romans 12:12)
Jesus, please give us steadiness in you. Help us do what we see you doing.

distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. (Romans 12:13)
Father, we have received so much from your hand — help us to be generous like you.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (Romans 12:14)
LORD, we have unclean lips and we live among a people of unclean lips — have mercy on us.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:15)
Jesus, help us enter into the lives of others as you did.

Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. (Romans 12:16)
LORD, please help us think on those things which are pure and holy and of good report.

A word received: Keep looking to me.
